Dumba

Description
Is this something Ottawa would/could do?

With Minnesota having to protect Suter, Spurgeon and Brodie because of NMC, it seems like they’ll have to leave Dumba unprotected unless they go with a 4/4/1 which seems very unlikely. They could always send Seattle a pick to not take him, so who really knows.

Ottawa on the other hand can protect Chabot, Zaitsev, and Mete, leaving Brown and Goloubef exposed. Swap Dumba instead of Zaitsev if they make this trade, leaving Zaitsev and Goloubef exposed. I just don’t see Seattle taking on Zaitsevs contract.

I know Ottawa has a ton of RD coming up, so maybe they wouldn’t even consider this deal, but I was curious what everyone thinks. Strengthens the back end.

*** I signed the FA to 900k just to see what the roster would look like. Not sure what any of them would actually fetch.

I really think Dumba would be great for the Sens at this point in time. But if Norris or Pinto isn’t included, a 1st has to be. Not this years lotto pick but a 2022. I just don’t think OTT wants to part with the pieces MIN wants.

I’m sure there’ll be at least a few teams calling MIN if he instead is on the block, but the closer they get to the expansion draft, the more handcuffed they will be. Can’t be playing hardball.

There’s no hardball to be played. They protect him going 4-4-1.

I’ll trade you for Greenway then 😉

Honestly, I think he’s gone. Boldy takes his place at a better cap hit.

Not sure how they’d approach a Greenway deal but the 2nd and 3rd round picks the Sens have could easily form the base. (Not all of them obviously)

I'm not sold on the fit to be honest. I don't know they want to add an Offensive D with defensive concerns. I think they'll want a defender who can play a roll on the PK and add some physical bite. I don't think you add a guy who would take powerplay minutes away from Erik Brannstrom. If anything I think he should get an even bigger role next year.
