Rights to UFA Getzlaf before free agency. ANA needs a backup for Gibson. If they do the deal before the exp draft, Koski won't need to be protected. ANA gets 3rd round pick to offset the $1.5M overpay on the contract rather than retaining salary.

NYI are a win-now team. I cannot see them moving their starter. I think they will pay Seattle to take on one or multiple of Ladd, Komarov, Hickey, Clutterbuck...

Getzlaf is going to stay with Anaheim or he retires. As for the trade, we have Stolarz and Dostal available for backing up Gibson. Koskinen would be nice for a playoff run, but until the Ducks are for sure ready to contend I don’t think Koskinen would be on their interest list.

This “ANA needs a backup” thing is so overrated. Stolarz will be the back up next season and Dostal will be the number 3. No need to waste 4.5M.

Sorokin will be the starter next season and Mitch korn can work his magic with a goalie they sign in free agency

Isles take that day any day of the week. That's a great deal for an aging goaltender that has been elevated by Mitch Korn and the Trotz system.

Why not run with the same goalie tandem for one more year let kosk contract expire naturally he’s helped the team win a bunch of games this year. Sure he’s overpaid for a back up role but those costs are luckily offset with smith taking well bellow what he’s deserved.
Getzlaf is an excellent target i love that but trading for his rights is just silly if he’s open to chasing a cup and joining a contender he will hit the open market and that’s when Holland reaches out to him.
I would assume if getzlaf decides to go that direction and cup is the goal his cap hit will be lower and be in his best interest to provide the team with as much flexibility as possible like Thornton did. Some of that saved money can go to larsson underpaid him but atleast half a million and a few others like shore smith
