You want the NHL to gift the Rangers another lottery pick? 2 isn't enough?

Miller looks to be a good player
I thought he'd be a little nastier, does not seem to have that in him

As for the trade, I can't see the two doing it again. You guys would because it helped you get Miller. We didn't fair nearly as well

Devils decline. We're not gonna give the Rangers a chance at Wright

If Rangers get Wright I'm done with NHL hockey. Same with Michkov or Bedard. Columbus, Arizona, San Jose. Just to name a few franchises that deserve #1 picks more.

Also both San Jose and Columbus are getting the shaft in their deals.

I think he will and a lot of the reason for that was its just his first season and he is still getting adjusted

The Rangers don’t have a need for that. They are coming out of their rebuild. Draft a C this year and continue on the path. Don’t throw away a bunch of players and prospects just for one.

Philly declines we are not giving up our captain and a 1st rounder for bunch of prospects even though they are quality. To make this actually realistic philly would want a player back that can fill the hole that Giroux leaves like Strome and while addressing the need for a RD Schneider is something im sure philly would be interested in. At this point philly would need to add a prospect or another pick to make it even. I have no idea what type of prospect rangers would be interested in so let me know.

Wright or Bedard would be great. Probably will be better than Eichel as well so sign me up for that instead of trading for Eichel. (To anyone who thinks I hate Eichel I don’t, I just can’t stand all the trades for him that everyone argues about. I hope he stays and succeeds in Buffalo.)

Some of these are interesting trades.
But overall, it is an interesting strategy if the accountant who controls the lottery balls is a season ticket holder.

Don't most GMs with a pulse insist on top-5 protection or something similar when trading their first-round picks if there's any possibility that their pick could end up there?

NJ is likely to be terrible again next year, the chances of them gifting NYR a lottery pick in a stacked draft is non-existent.

No team that won't make the playoffs isn't giving you a first in 2022 or 2023. You are closer to contention than any team listed here anyway. Instead of trading for draft picks, why dont you try and target players to make a playoff run? You clearly have the talent for it.

Good luck getting 1st rd picks from lottery teams. There is absolutely no way SJS trades another 1st rd pick.

Pretty much and since Wright is going to be the #1OA I think we can put this day dream to rest.

Why not? I am not challenging the position. If someone was willing to take Burns, Karlsson or Vlassic, how would you make the deal?

I wouldn't do it at all. It makes no sense for SJ to pay to offload these contracts, a rebuilding team doesn't need cap space, and the team also can't rebuild if it's top 10 picks keep getting traded away for nothing.

The only move possible here is Burns being sent off 50% retained for a decent return, or taken by Seattle (very possible).

Burns at 50% gets what back from other team? Young player? Prospect? Pick? What does San Jose need in their pipeline?
