The question should be what does Dallas want. Rangers would likely have send an assets or take a pick to dump that awful contract imo. NYR trouba isn’t worth 3m let alone 8m. Just my opinion on the matter.

That’s what I figured but I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. Haven’t watched too many Ranger games this year and things do change

He has a NMC and a ridiculous contract. Stars should stay far away from that contract

I’d be curious to see what he could do in a more structured system with Miro as his partner. Especially if they’re paying us to take him. Not long ago he was considered a legitimate player worth that contract. I still think he would be a good turnaround bet. Obv there would be a lot of other moving parts in making this work but I didn’t want to post that and have all the angry Rangers fans telling me he’s worth something and had a better year etc. So I wanted to see if they’re still regretting that contract. Lol

Trouba is okay but if you need a RHD you could get Jensen who is equal to or slightly better for 1/3 the cap hit. No need to take that awful contract for free. Capitals paid a 1st to dump 2.75m of Panik contact and he was a solid player. Imagine dumping 8m with 5 years left

Doesn't miro play the right side though?

Also we're not regretting it, we're patient enough to let him play his way back to his cap hit (or at least close enough)

The big picture scenario I’m working on involved if we left Pavs unprotected and Seattle took him. But I could see that working as well. Would the Rangers either retain 2 million or kick in a second or third round pick?

Retention is a deal breaker, pick might work

He’s a natural leftie but was moved to the right since we have Lindell and Oleksiak on the left and he played on the right in Finland quite a bit

If my memory is ok, I think that Trouba really wanted to play and live in New-York. Thus he probably would refuse to move.

If we would get him, it would make it probably impossible to sign Klingberg unless you trade Lindell.

We could maybe swap Lindell for him with a high draft pick coming our way?

All of this is highly speculative because the NMC.

Lindell would be moved in this scenario. Not in this deal tho
