I absolutely love Seider and consider him untouchable. Still, this is not enough of a return for Vancouver. If this was actually presented to Detroit, we'd have to take it.

Sounds like I whiffed on this one. Oof
Oh, well.

Still like DET as a fit though.

Yeah, I mean, the Wings certainly have the prospect capital if they wanted to do it some day (And if Van wanted to move him, which seems EXTREMELY unlikely), but it's not really Stevie Y's M.O to do a deal like this. He'll likely continue to build up the farm, and make smart, low(er) risk trades.

No way Yzerman deals Seider for someone less than a top 5 player in the league, Detroit passes on this

To be honest, I disagree it's a whiff. Seider is looking like a bona-fide number 1 RHD. The only issue I see is the pick itself. Might have to be Detroit's first round pick. Hughes-Seider tandem in Vancouver? That would be tough. Almost like Lidstrom-Chelios in the early 2000s. Nearly untouchable

Hmm. Seider plus 7th overall pick.
We know this will never happen...
But, that would be some trade.

I don't think any player outside the league that could ever return a top-5 player in the league.
Maybe McDavid, Crosby, Mario before their rookie years.
That's about it.
Seider would not return one a McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, etc

I'm sorry what? Are you guys drunk? Yzerman declines this without hesitation. Petersson is a great player, but he's not McDavid. Seider and this year's first???? lol never in a million years. Now we have 2Cs, back to no legit D prospects and no first this year.....uhhhh, no.

Wallinder, Viro, Tuomisto, Johansson, McIssac, Moore (and Hronek, Lindstrom)
Wouldn't call that "no legit D prospects" but I get your point.

None of those guys are legit prospects, they're just prospects. Hronek and Lidstrom are not prospects and at least 3 of those you mentioned will never make the NHL. I didnt realize that you had WSH 1st in there instead of ours, which makes this more palatable, but still a no for me.

That was Yzerman's first pick as GM of The Wings and he scouted Seider himself. When he stepped down as TBs GM he was still under contract so he did a lot of scouting in Europe. I wouldn't say you whiffed you didn't know how much Detroit values Seider.

I think you are right about Detroit being a good fit. Put him in-between Raymond and Berggren would be cool.

I think everyone knows how much is expected of Seider.
He can’t really hide anymore.

That was my thinking. Wings appear to be deep everywhere in their pipeline other than center.
Who are their top-2 centers in 2023-24?

It's Washington's 1st, not Detroit's top 10, first round pick. Pettersson is already a top 10 center and is only 22 years old, with 3 years of NHL experience already under his belt. I love Larkin, but he's a 2C in reality. Petterson is a legit 1C. Also, although I am VERY high on Seider, he hasn't played a single NHL minute yet. If you step aside and look at this from an unbiased perspective, Detroit would be getting the better end of that deal.

With all that said, I don't see there being ANY chance of a trade like this happening, but if we're comparing value, Detroit wins that trade.

Well its washingtons 1st so not ours so we still have a top 10 pick. I agree seider is a crazy good prospect and no petersson ismt mcdavid but he is a known quantity and seider is still a prospect. Do I think theyd do it, probably not but it isn't crazy.

Not a chance Seider would return someone like Mackinnon on his own haha but that is the point. He is the best prospect in the NHL and hopefully a future Norris winner. Point is, don’t trade him unless it’s for a top 5 player in the league (that would mean some type of package)
I love Petterson but I wouldn’t trade Seider for him straight up at this point
