Jack Eichel but in 2022-23

Created by: Masonh618
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2021
Published: May 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I hate Eichel trades but I'm temporarily hopping on the bandwagon, because I think this perspective needs to be shown.

$12M to pay Lafreniere, Barron, Rooney, Richards, Miller, Jones, Kinkaid, and the 2 bench players. You be the judge on that.

Good value, some may call it an overpay, but I think it's right on par with what his value is right now. Might (and probably will) get away with less than this.

If Kakko takes a step forward, this is reasonable.
What is not reasonable is that fox contract. Rangers fans can’t be yelling that fox should win the Norris and then in the next breath say he should be paid less than Thomas chabot. 8 year deal? Probably 11 million. Maybe 10 if the rangers are lucky. If you want to keep the number at seven million, that’s a one or two year deal max.

6x7 for zibanejad is also wildly off. Over the past two years he is 5th in the league in goals per game, and that’s even with a very shaky start coming off getting covid. Last year he lead the league in goals per game. Does it sound like he’s signing the same deal that anders lee got? Don’t think so. Bump that up a bit, and now you’ve got yourself some cap hell once the contracts are appropriate.

Oh, and Deangelo won’t ever play for the rangers again. I think he’s likely done in the NHL.

I think it's close to fair for Eichel

I love how ADA is still on the team

Rangers are in cap hellgrimace

Fox is going to take a team-friendly deal if the Rangers are in cap hell with Eichel. I can understand Zibanejad getting $8M though. As a matter of fact I'll revise that

Oh he is, is he? You know the guy? Did he tell you this? That is an absurd notion. Fox is going to get massively underpaid for his prime years because the rangers are in cap trouble? That’s the most naive thing I’ve heard in a while. Like I said, for a year or two? Maybe. Bridge contract at 7 million is okay. Max term involves him likely being the highest paid d man in the league.

Quick question: do you think fox deserves to win the Norris this season?

Probably 2nd behind Cale Makar, but again, I'm not saying he's worth only $7M.

Okay, so in this world you think he’s the second best defensemen in the national hockey league by merit. His agent comes to him and says, “good news Adam, just got an offer from the rangers that will take you to age 32! You’ll be the 17th highest paid d man in the league, and the second highest paid d man on your team! You aren’t quite making Aaron ekblad money, but i got you a couple hundred thousand more than provorov!” Fox should probably fire his agent for even bringing that offer to him.

Strawman. How many times do I have to say he's not worth only $7m?

Then why is he signing it? And how much do you think he’s worth for 8 years.

Id rather he play his contract out in the KHL than trade him for players they could find in Free agency

- Already said it's based on his willing to sign a team-friendly deal. Still waiting to hear why that's even more naive than all the other BS that we've seen on this site for weeks. It's something I'd never bet that Fox would do, but it's something I wouldn't bet against either.
- Probably $9-9.5M, I'd say the same for Makar and McAvoy too

Chytil was on pace for 43p as 21 year old with good potential, if anyone counter argued that the 21 year old is only putting up .5p/gp, they would get laughed out of the room.

Apparently those players are free agency replaceable

lol, of course, but then you get a 30 year old with a 4x4M contract, instead of having a 21 year old who will only continue to improve.

Rodrigues was putting up .4 points per game, wont cost eichel, probably would only cost about a million

Considering Fox forced (for lack of a better term) his way out of two organizations to play for the Rangers, I think it's safe to assume he takes a discount. It's infuriating, I know, but it wouldn't surprise me one but if he signed an 8x8 deal.
