CBJ aren’t taking Schmidt for that first.

If those are being traded, it’s for Forwards. Namely, Centers.

Plus, that Schmidt contract does not look like it’s going to age well.

Schmidt does not have to go to Columbus. You can pick any team who needs a good D-Man. I think we could get a first for him because he has been good this year

So let me get this 3 team deal straight with Vancouver. Minnesota, and Tampa:

Minnesota gives up: Dumba, and a 2022 4th --- Minnesota receives Johnson, 2022 1st and 3rd
Tampa gives up: Johnson, 2022 1st --- Tampa receives 2022 4th
Vancouver gives up: 2022 1st and 3rd --- Vancouver receives Dumba and a 2022 1st

... is this EA Sports? How would Vancouver give up a 1st and a 3rd and get Matt Dumba and a 1st in return? .. so you're saying all they need to do is trade a 3rd for Dumba? ... Minnesota and Tampa say no to that so quickly.

Rangers decline. And how would you get a 1st for Schmidt less than a year after giving a 3rd for him?

The reason the Canucks traded just a third rounder to obtain 5.9m Schmidt is that the Canucks never sent any money back to Vegas. Schmidt's trade value hasn't shot up considerably in just one season.
Teams would prefer to keep their first rounder and find ways to spend 5.9m in other ways, rather than do these type of trades proposed.
