Kreider + 3rd to PIT doesn't even get you Future Considerations. It took a 2nd just to move Marc Staal. Obviously he's a lot worse but his contract only had one year compared to Kreider's six AND it was $800k less of a salary cap hit.

Kreider just finished the year 20th in the league in Goals/60. Capfriendly puts a lot more value on contract length than NHL GM's. Chris is still a top goal scorer in the league, a 6-3 all situations guy and one of the fastest players in the league...only here would anyone consider that a cap dump. It's not reality based. His deal is super front loaded too with a 4.25 mil average salary for the last half of the deal.

That being said, with the NMC he's likely only accepting a deal to Boston, who has long coveted him. There could be something there especially as Boston tries to max out the back end of their cup window and DeBrusk has yet to truly cement himself as a reliable top 6 player.
