Why would Hamilton sign a long term deal in Buffalo?

That Vancouver trade is atrocious. They would have to give up two first round picks just to move those two contracts, never mind getting Reinhart too. Girgensons is also not a throwaway player.

Man, I feel so bad for Eichel with how all of this injury stuff is happening. It really seems like he knows exactly what he wants to do, but the team won’t let him. This might cripple the relationship between the two sides. He declined to comment on whether he asked for a trade or not, and spoke about how his only goal is to be available to play hockey next year regardless of where that is. Might be seeing the relationship crumble....

Didn't Buffalo say he couldn't have surgery?

Pretty sure he’s wanting surgery, but they’re denying that option I believe. Which is crazy to me. I get you want your player back ASAP, but this is just too much. At this point you’re just ruining the relationship for what? An extra 3 months of Eichel, in a year where you’re still in a rebuild... makes no sense.

That was my first thought too, no one is signing long term in Buffalo this off season.

Yep, but why would they want him back ASAP when they weren't making the playoffs and there's no fans in the stands with or without him?

Elliott Friedman was on local radio during the prime time hour and he was talking about exactly this. It's really sad for Eichel.

Serious question: name a player who would want to play for this organization after hearing what Eichel is dealing with.

This is very damaging to this organization and in the end I doubt they get even half of the value we see on here everyday for Eichel.
