Not as much as it would take. Minnesotta fans overvalue him and consider him a top pairing guy. He would leave via UFA in 2 years. Not worth it.

Honestly? Not enough to satisfy Wild fans. Wild fans like the fit because they really like Pinto and Norris, and think they could get one of them. For what Ottawa needs, I don't think Dumba is a wonderful fit, and there's no way Ottawa is trading one of those two for him in my opinion. I think Brannstrom is gonna take a meaningful step forward next year, but that's probably gonna be hard for him to do if Dumba is there taking his PP time.

For me to really get down on Dumba to Ottawa, Ottawa need to find a way to move Zaitsev to make a spot for Dumba without blocking JBD long term, and they'd need to be trading Brannstrom for a top six forward.

And on most teams in the league he would be a top pairing defenseman, but the Wild have the luxury of having 4 top pairing defenseman in our top four. Which is a primary reason why our defense has been so good for so long, a top 5 defense in the league, specifically.

I wouldn't say Dumba would just skip out in two years, he isn't really like that. He's very team centric and focused, and the Sens will likely being gearing up to contend at that point and I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be willing to stick around if that was the case.

That said, I don't think Ottawa would make for a good trade partner in terms of a potential landing spot for Dumba. What we would want, Ottawa wouldn't be willing to give up.

Well said! I agree, and it appears we're like minded on the potential fit as trade partners.

Which is to say, not very well.

OTT and MN don't really line up well for trades. Their good young guys OTT should part with, and the more expensive players aren't anything MN would want.

Something like a 2nd and Brown (if MN thought he'd make the team next year and not be waiver fodder), is about the only thing OTT could/should offer.

I'm not high on Brown, but he just seems like the type of project GMs think they can fix.

I probably should have put this in the description but I'm more curious in a way to make a 3way deal for Eichel to Minny. I thought Ottawa could be a good third team because Dumba would help their dcore and they have a protection slot likely available for him.

So the pieces wouldn't have to be a fit for Minnesota. It would be Eichel to Minnesota, Dumba to Ottawa, and then a haul of players/picks to Buffalo.

I think you'll get the best value for Dumba, or at least things BUF might want, from a win now team; not a rebuilding team like OTT. He just doesn't have the term to be a smart pickup for the lottery teams.

Ya I was just trying to find a team that has space on defence for expansion protection. Only teams I have thought of so far that might make sense in that regard are Ottawa and Arizona. But like you said, neither of those teams are in great positions to want a guy like Dumba

AZ might. They only have OEL and Chychrun as top-4 d-men after the season. Dumba could be a nice couple of year fit while Soderstrom finds his game.

Ya I've also thought of New Jersey and Winnipeg.

Strome for Dumba from CHI could work. ICK on sending Dumba to CHI (and WIN or AZ) and have to play against him so many times.

I don't think they would be too concerned with that as Dumba isnt a superstar but I get what you're saying. I'm sure they'd prefer to have him out of the division.

Doesn't need to be a superstar. Former Wild players tend to bite them in the rear whenever they play. Haula, Tuch, and Donato as recent examples.

Thing is, if this was supposed to be a 3-way trade, because the thinking is Buffalo wouldn't want Dumba. Your wrong, Buffalo might actually be very interested in Dumba now.

After the seasons end player press conferences, we now know with certainty that Eichel, Reinhart, and Ristolainen all want out of Buffalo.

With Risto specifically wanting out and likely gone next season, I could easily see Buffalo willingly taking Dumba back as part of a Eichel trade to replace Risto in their top 4. Just saying.

Dumba is a great player, but OTT isnt the right fit.

Dumbas skill set and contract age dont mesh for what OTT has now, has in the pipeline, and wants to manage for the next ~6 years
