Jack is a generational talent, he has had injury issues sure, but he's a top 10 player when healthy. It would take much more to get him, probably would have to add at least TK and one of our upper level prospects, maybe York, maybe Zamula, maybe Foerster.

OK maybe I didn't use that term as cautiously as I should, he isn't a McDavid or Mackinnon obviously, but he is an elite player clearly and he is going to command a big haul. But you're right, not on the "generational talent" level as of now I guess.

Do you think if we added Konecny they would throw in Risto instead of Miller?

I mean he was an elite player but neck injuries are not something to mess with. Big risk for whoever wants to take him on.

You don't think he can still be an elite player? He hasn't even turned 25 yet and although neck injuries are serious, no doctor has said his career will be threatened or his skill will diminish because of it. The surgery he had actually allows 80% of players to return to their previous levels of play and that the recovery time for hockey players can be 7 months, perhaps a little less. I think he's def a player you take a chance on, but unfortunately he may be a luxury for us at this point in time. We need at least 2 top-4 defensemen for us to even consider ourselves contenders again, our defense is not what I thought they would be coming into this season, that's for sure.

Never said he can't be elite but he comes with risk. Also, he needs to undergo another surgery. That is why he is close to grieving the Sabres because he wants surgery but the team doesn't or at least not yet.

Could be an opportunity then, maybe he isn't as expensive as originally thought. One thing is for sure we have the pieces to get it done, that's not in doubt. Maybe not the need, since Hayes would then become a 3C at 7mil/yr, but winning teams more times than not are strong down the middle, so maybe not a bad luxury.
