Depends on the compensation. Sj is one of those teams where there aren't exactly good options to pick from. Most of the assets available here are virtually valueless.

Burns with a good compensation would be value wise worth more than pretty much anything they could take via free pick.

As for if this is a good compensation or not...well it's a start if anything.

Yeah well Leonard and 2 2nds isn't enough to take on Burns contract. More then likely it would cost the Sharks at least a 1st and 2nd round pick or San Jose eating quite a bit of salary on top.

SJ can't eat salary on an expansion draft pick. That would have to be a separate trade then.

Burns has a 3 team trade list, Pretty sure he'd block any deal sending him to Seattle. At his age he's not wasting his time with an expansion team.

Exactly why it needs to be a pick. NTC doesn't protect from ExD pick, only NMC does. Which means SJ can't retain salary.

Probably have a better chance winning in Seattle than SJ
