Caps Fans Thoughts - Playoffs Lines

Description
If everyone is coming back healthy - what are your predictions for lines? Does Kuzy jump right back? How about TVR / Schultz / Jensen? Goaltender situation (starter / backup)?

Not loving all the injuries and the uncertainty going into the playoffs, but throughout the season, the Caps have overcome some MAJOR adversity. With multiple rest days before Game 1, maybe most are able to come back?

I highly doubt Kuzy comes back for Game 1 due to not skating for an extended period of time, but give me your thoughts

I like the forward lines for the most part, but i'd switch Mantha and Sheary, I think Sheary would work really well with Eller and Oshie. For defense, I'd take out either Schultz or TVR to put Jensen with Chara, I really like how they've played at times. Goalie is a toss up, but I think starting Vanacek is the right decision, and if he does poorly they can put Samsonov in like they did with Grubauer and Holtby in 2018.

As much as I've enjoyed TvR's play recently, I don't think he comes in over Jensen. Jensen and Chara are the two defensemen who've logged the most ice time on the penalty kill. For context, without Jensen in the lineup (139:46 TOI on the PK):

Chara: 147:21
Dillon: 102:33
Carlson: 101:39
Orlov: 33:24
van Riemsdyk: 32:57
Schultz: 6:03 (lol)

If Chara or Dillon goes to the box, ooooh boy that'd be an adventure on the PK. If anyone's going to sit for TvR in the lineup, it'll probably be Schultz since Orlov can play the point in the second power play unit.

Overall though, I like the forward lines. The third line of Sheary - Kuznetsov - Sprong could feast on some easier competition, and you can always rotate Raffl in for Sprong if he struggles or the game calls for more defensive structure.

Honestly, I'd start Craig Anderson Game 1. He has played the Bruins a lot in his career and has playoff experience with impressive GAA and SV%

Good points all around. I only put TVR in because he has made Dillon better (for some reason). Plus, offensive zone time and shots have increased as well when TVR is on the ice. But Jensen and Chara have been a staple for the defense this whole season - hard to break them up. Tough situation, but not a bad one to be in (defensive depth is never a bad thing!).

I am surprised Vanacek is starting tonight. I thought throwing Anderson out there would give the Caps staff an extra look at him. He's only started 2 games this year and although this game is meaningless, still gives him work.

Vanecek has been terrible his last 3 starts since shutting out the Islanders and by the time the playoffs start it will have been 3 weeks since Samsonov won a game. Anderson turns 40 in like 10 days so that would be a hell of a story.
