Next season another rebuilder

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 11, 2021
Published: May 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Strome and Murphy trades happen after the expansion draft meaning both are protected.

Toews, Kane, DeBrincat, Strome, Hagel, Borgstrom, Gaudette.

Keith, Murphy, Stillman

The strome trade assumes that the pick is middle of the first round ish

I think this is somewhat realistic.

Murphy would be a nice fit in Philly, but I cant see them parting with a 1st and 3rd. Murphy is nice but that package probably gets a better RD elsewhere.

Very unlikely you get a 1st for a guy that’s been healthy scratched multiple times toward the end of the year in Strome. You’d be lucky to get a 2nd for him at this point.

I’m sure you would like to believe that, but Strome will still fetch a first. There’s a lot of upside, and my guess is that MIN would bet on that upside.

This is before free agency, and who in FA fills your needs as well as Murphy? Curious.

I’m a believer in Strome. But you missed the part where he was a healthy scratch on a non playoff team. That matters. A lot.

RD: David Savard, Montour, Barrie or cheaper tradeable commodities in Risto, Dumba to name a few....

Dumba is gonna cost a whole lot more than a 1st and a 3rd based on what Wild fans say

Im sure Fletcher would target Hamilton hard if he gets to FA. Hamilton's defensive game isn't as good as Murphy's but his overall game is better.

I think that’s because he is factoring into next year at this juncture. It would take more than a 1st and 3rd because you’d have to convince the Wild to sell, I think that’s a fair offer for Dumba though.

That’s gotta mean they’d try to dump JVR or Voracek for cap then?

My bet is Minnesota won't. it's been made clear Guerin isn't trading his 1st round picks

So no, Minnesota isn't betting on player whose getting scratched with 1st round pick

He's not better than Marco rossi, or total beast Joel Eriksson Ek. Wild aren't wasting a 1st round pick on strome when they can use it to get much better player & cheaper in draft

Not so sure Strome brings a 1st in anymore. My guess is a 2nd and 3rd, he is clearly out of favor with the Hawks and his 2nd team in his young career.

or Ghost. But its likely Ghost is gone anyways. Philly only has Sanheim, Patrick and Hart to re-sign and all 3 had bad years, so have damaged their value. If PHI moves Ghost for a pick or in expansion, they have about 7 mil.

While I think Hamilton will be too much, they have more than enough to move that package and maybe a prospect for Dumba or alot less for Risto or just address the regression of Myers and look for a 2RD, not a 1RD. Or teach Cam York or Zamula RD.

Theres alot of options out there, its just that Murphy is not worth a top 15 pick and more IMO.

Yes. It's better for us to lose one of Voracek or JVR to Seattle due to their big contracts. Losing one of them would give us more cap space to work with giving us an opportunity to possibly get Hamilton if he slips to FA

Strome has had bad luck this year, and his analytics support this theory. In this scenario Dylan sitting should be more telling of the coach and not the player. The Blackhawks were also close to the playoffs all year so it’s not like Dylan was sitting on the Buffalo Sabres, our coach likes to play mind games and has it out for certain players this is just his own way of messing up Dylan‘s Strome. People can say that he’s hardly worth a second round pick but there is no way that is the truth.

If this ends up coming true, it will be another asset that JC has squandered with his poor coaching abilities. When you are in his doghouse, that’s it.

I don’t think Seattle takes either of those guys though. Tough sell to take on a 7 plus mil contract with term for a guy in his 30s.

This is just it. It’s a squandered asset regardless of how good he is or can be.

Wouldn't be suprised if Seattle takes JVR hes been good this season and has 2 years left on his contract so that 7 million wouldn't bother them for long.

In any case, the hawks won’t trade Strome for a 2nd round pick. I stand by the prediction it will be a first of he’s a hawk next year.

If Dougie is an option at all, Dumba is too capwise. Dougie is gonna come in over 8 mil…

If we can get rid of JVR or Voracek we can go after Hamilton if his in FA. Teaching Zamula RD would be really beneficial for philly because our LD is full and Zamula is a guy im sure philly would want in the lineup at some point.
