Description
Ghost gets picked ip by Seattle. Butcher for JVR seems like a solid trade for both teams. Butcher is skilled but seemed to be falling out of favor in NJ. JVR will help NJ in the PP and can be a vet on a young team in his hometown. Yes jvr is overpayed but just for 2 years and nj has plenty of cap space. Flyers pay a hefty price for Ryan Ellis but have the perfect right handed dman to pair with provorov. Nash gets 2 high prospects especially Frost with 1C potential, Sanheim who can step into Nashvilles top 4 and a 1st rounder that should be top 10. The flyers get Gudreau for Jake, patrick, Ratcliffe and a 2nd. This is a win win as calgary replaces johnnys production with Jake who puts up similar numbers. To offset the bad contract, the flyers give up patrick who still has huge potential but could use a change of scenery and an intriguing prospect in ratcliffe who has some upside. The 2nd rounder is a sweetener. To fill out the lineup, they sign Foligno to replace patrick as 3c. Adds grit and leadership to the bottom 6 and more grit and playoff experience with Goodrow. Players like those 2 are exactly what the flyers roster was lacking this season. Still have 3 million to work with for a deadline pick up or if some of those contracts cost a bit more.

I agree. The value is there for them, even though I don't know where Sanheim fits into the lineup. Maybe he can be flipped for more futures?

Not a bad move for Calgary but I doubt they'd give up Gaudreau despite all the rumours last offseason. Maybe Monahan tho for a bit less in return

He is great at 2nd d-pair but NSH already has Ekholm at that position so NSH could either trade Ekholm or Sanheim for something that fits them better.

Even with the compensation for Voracek i doubt Calgary would take his contract.

Could sub Sanheim for myers in the trade since he plays the right side. Personally i think myers is better but sanheim has the pedigree. If thats the case the flyers would not target butcher.

Yeah, NSH already has Josi, Ekholm, Borowiecki returning next season, with Farrance and Davies pushing for roster spots too. Harpur could be in the mix as well, but unless NSH gets decimated by injuries again, I can't see him getting any NHL minutes. The left side is going to be crowded enough without Sanheim.

Myers works for me. He'll be cheaper than Sanheim for the next couple seasons as well, which is a plus in my books.

Sanheim would still definitely get NHL minutes but just on the 2/3 line and would also take the spot from Farrance and Davies

Oh yeah, not saying he's not deserving of minutes or a roster spot. Just that the Preds have too many options on that side already. He's not going to bump Josi or Ekholm out of the top four, and paying him even his current salary (nevermind whatever raise he gets on his new contract) to play 3rd pair minutes would be poor cap management.
