I'll cut straight to the chase: EICH TO SEATTLE

Yes, there are plenty of downsides which I'm sure you will remind me of. But maybe, if the Kraken were to do something similar to Vegas where they acquired some draft picks in the first year, and they do have a very high pick and who they select from Buffalo is also an asset for them.

Either way, this is just to spark discussion as I have no idea what Ronny Franchise will do with the 32nd team. So let me know how this might go!

Cap space isn't a problem, and maybe if they had a Vegas-tier expansion draft, plus acquiring a plethora of picks, they could make something happen......

That would certainly be an entertaining first significant move by Seattle. Not sure if they will end up having what Buffalo needs as a return. They will rely on teams sending assets to them to take on bigger contracts then immediately flip them to Buffalo.

It is interesting, but logistically I don't think Seattle can make this happen.

That was the concern. It would be a great publicity stunt as well as a way to sort of set the stage for the franchise as a whole. But the quality of assets Seattle can offer is a little underwhelming

Would be the most baller move they could make LOL. Would be truly incredible if they pulled this off.

Like you said, unrealistic as they won’t have the pieces, but the idea is awesome

I have actually. I was going to make a Seattle Roster with a hypothetical trade, but for some reason it did not let me. Something like Jake Bean, Vitek Vanecek, Lias Andersson, 2021 1st, and a 2022 2nd for Eichel and Okposo might be fair

Seattle winning the lottery would certainly help, but that would still be only one piece of the pie for Eichel. They would still need other assets to include in the deal which they just haven't had enough time to acquire any. Still rely on teams giving them enough quality assets from the rest of the league to make it worth Buffalo's while.

Vegas got their fair share of assets from expansion draft trades, and although teams will be hesitant with seattle after vegas, the flat cap will only help the kraken

We could very well see Seattle acquire a significant amount of picks/prospects for the reasons you said. The flat cap certainly helps their cause. It's just hard to predict what they'll get.

I don't think that even gets you close. I get that dumping Okposo lowers the value, but that's not even close to enough upside coming back. At this point, there's not a lot of point paying to move Okposo. It's not like they need to create space.

I'd honestly say that I think Seattle is in an even better position that Vegas was when it comes to taking advatage of other teams during this draft. Like you said-Flat cap, plus reduced revenues could see teams trying to cut costs in interesting places.

Combine that with seattle somehow winning 1st overall and we could have some fun 👀

Agreed. With Francis at the helm, I'm betting that they're a worse team than Vegas was, but probably loaded with picks/prospects.

Francis built the division winning Canes that Waddell has today. Waddell is still a fantastic GM, but Francis put a lot of it together

For sure...from the ground up. Very, very patient GM.

How would you make it a fair deal? Would upgrading the 2022 2nd to a first get it over the line?

Vanecek is a below league average goalie as a 25 year old. Lias has done F all. Like, the main value comes from the lotto 2021 pick (which isn’t a good draft) and Jake Bean (who hasn’t really been overly impressive).

An Eichel trade has to hurt, and this ain’t it.
