Just curious as Ive seen all sorts of trade for jack wih returns all over the map. If Buf trades Jack would they not be in full rebuild mode... which would mean Sam and potentially Dahlin would be available for a price.

My guess: Top 6 forward, A level prospect, 2 first round picks (lottery)

For me, top 6 center man (NHL ready), top 4 defence man prospect, 2022 first, and a bottom 6 player with decent potential. This is one from a good playoff team. Bottom 6 forward, and defence man prospect doesn’t have to be NHL ready.

Rebuilding team: top 6 center man (NHL ready), and 2021 first (if top 10). Its a pretty good chance that a rebuilding teams first is top 10, so this is fair.

Example from playoff team;

Winnipeg Jets

Jack Eichel

Buffalo Sabres

Pierre-Luc Dubois, 2022 first, Ville Heinola, and Andrew Copp.

Example from rebuilding team;

Detroit Red Wings

Jack Eichel

Buffalo Sabres

Dylan Larkin, 2021 first.

Agree. Dubois + Copp + Heinola + 1st is a good example of a return Buffalo should get

Even a full rebuild (which they should do but probably won't) doesn't lead to a Dahlin trade.

I'd guess they're going to want at least 5 pieces.

To start: Young NHL middle six player now with a high ceiling (e.g. Hintz), A+ prospect (e.g. Byfield), 2021 1st round pick.

If pick is early (1-10), then mix of two B prospects or later picks.

If late then a 2022 first and B/C prospect they can say they were high on.

Where the 2021 1st is will be critical.

I was going to do the 2021 first, but it would be late in a weak draft. How is my Detroit one? I just thought of it really quickly and posted it.

I don’t think Detroit is in a stage to do that trade

True, I just did it for the value, of how a rebuilding teams trade for Eichel would look like. Detroit was just a placeholder.

In terms of value, Werenski + Foudy or Texier + top 5 pick is a good offer.

I know its unlikely but without Tkachuk what would Flames have to give up?

I genuinely don’t know the direction Buffalo wants to go with, but Monahan + Zary/Pelletier + 2021 1st (10th overall) and 2022 1st is a good offer imo. But Buffalo may not want Monahan so idk

Agreed depends what direction they want to go but potentially Mangapanie , Anderson, Valamki, 2021 1st round pick, 2022 first rounder

We can't really trade Andersson. We would only have Tanev under contract for RD
