I wouldn't do Turcotte and Kaliyev for Suzuki and Caufield, let alone this trade.

That is a lot to give up for 2 young players with 70 pro games (NHL & AHL between them). I think the Habs pass and see what our own youngsters bring.

thats a horrendous take. in fact this trade is bad for mtl. those 2 la players are still prospects. habs are giving up way to much for 2 guys who have yet to play in the nhl consistently.

So to be clear: the Kings take on Drouin (avg TOI 16:05, -8) at $5.5M for the next two years who scored 2 goals in 44 games and has taken an indefinite leave of absence, Kotkaniemi who scored 5 goals (averaging less than 15 min, and recently under 10min TOI, -1) in the last 55 games and give him an RFA extension close to or more than his $3.4M contract, one year of Kulak at $1.7 (who is basically a cheaper version of Maata), a great prospect in Guhle, a 1st that is no less than 15th, and a 2nd rounder. So the Canadiens clear about $10M in contracts of struggling players, get a top-line center prospect and a top-line winger prospect and don't have to give up Suzuki, Caufield, or Primeau. Sorry for my horrendous take, but I'll take my chances with Turcotte and Kaliyev.

17th. Guaranteed to be no better than 17th overall, and there's still a chance that Winnipeg may pass Montreal on the way down.

There's nothing in that haul worth giving up Turcotte or Kaliyev for. This is a fantasy hockey trade. Quantity does not make up for quality.
