hard to believe buff would decline because it meets their criteria of 4 1st round. kings trade was an attempt bc they have a surplus of centers but lack of high end wingers

No it does not, sabres have no use for Ryan Strome, definitely don't value him as a first. Many other teams would easily outbit this, easily. If Buffalo would accept this, would've already been done

If you could get Byfield for that package (you couldn't) then just trade Byfield , Schneider, and 2022 1st for Eichel

BTW the ask for Eichel isn't four random 1st round draft picks more like 4 legit 1st line or 1st pairing players

I think that’s why he added the 2nd rounder.. I don’t think the return is going to be as good as a lot of ppl have been posting. Schneider is also on Canada’s worlds roster right now, he had a very good year and looks like a steal so far. People forget that Chytil is only 21 and has three years in the nhl already, proved he was too good for ahl last year, and still has room to grow.

I doubt LA would trade byfield, a high end prospect, and a 1st for eichel. Idk why you would expect the rangers to throw in Schneider and a first if they got byfield.

I too wish that I could build my team by underpaying for players...You're getting a very highly rated prospect by trading Buch, and not giving up a highly rated prospect in the Eichel trade.

LAK declines-Regardless of their C prospect depth, they'd be much better off just moving one of them to the wing, no?

Buffalo declines-If Stome is worth a 1st, trade him and flip the pick to the Sabres. No reason for Buffalo to do all the work, especially if there isn't a high end prospect going in their direction. I'd also say that it has to involve Kakko, but there's not a lot of point arguing about an Eichel return right now.

Anaheim politely declines: I just don't really see a point bringing in Georgiev. Stolarz has been fine, and deserves a shot at the backup spot. Plus, he's a lot cheaper. If Seattle pulled a shocker and picked Stolarz, I'd consider it, but with the position the team is in right now, I don't see a reason to invest in the backup position when they've already got someone there.

I think you are going to be pretty disappointed by the actual return in real life then. The rangers had an offer last summer for eichel which they didn’t say “no” to, they said “we are not ready to do this yet”. This offer was reported to not include 1st overall, kakko, fox or Miller. Many teams do not have the cap to take eichels contract so I don’t see many teams being competitive with offers that don’t include bad cap going back, and LA is better off keeping their high end prospects and continuing the build than giving up the farm for eichel since center is the strong part of their pipeline. Rangers pool even without laf and kakko is much better than most teams and while you may not know the prospects, GMs do.

well I guess you have the best team among those who failed to make the playoffs but you may be a little too in love with your own prospects.

This post lost all credibility after the LA proposal. Didn't really have to see the rest.

It's weird to me that people get so pumped up about prospects, when the majority of prospects have a tendency to break our hearts....

Don't get me wrong, there's certainly upside there, but man...thinking every one of your prospects is going to be a star is a really good way to fall into Leaf/Hab levels of hockey depression.

I don't know every teams prospects but there are 3 or 4 sites you can find out all you want to know - they are pretty good at letting you know that some fans sure fire star is a third line forward at best.

Oh I'm 100% on the same page as you. A youtube video or hockeydb stat line has a tendency to push fans over the edge. I remember getting Sam Steel and being like "F*ckin' guy is a studddd!".

How my beloved Ducks haven't put together an alliterative line with Rickard Rakell-Sam Steel-Troy Terry blows my mind.
