You are asking a lot more from the rangers, they easily say no. LA mulls it over but I don’t think they pull the trigger.

Well in order to fetch a possibly top 10 player, top 5-6 center, it'll take a lot. Strome is in the deal to offset some cap and fill a void at Center for BUF. They are keeping perhaps their best 4-6 D prospects in the deal, and chances are very high that next yrs first, in this deal, is a very late 1st round pick.

    A lot more? I disagree.

LA gives up their best prospect, something around 8th OA in this draft, a cheap mid-6 winger with team control, and a 4th/5th dman who is solid analytically.

Rangers give up their best prospect (Who is more valuable than Byfield, but not by a ton), one year of Strome (Who Buffalo has no use for), a solid D prospect, and what is likely a late 1st next year.

Rangers can't afford that additional cap. Think the Rangers say no, as they hope to find much better value in all those young assets that one 10m Eichel.
The Kings can find better value in keeping Byfield, the first, spending 5m on Walker and Kempe, and then having in effect 7m to spend on a UFA or whatever than spending 10m on Eichel,

the Rangers can easily afford Eichel's 10 mil cap, especially with moving Strome.

Rangers have a lot of bonuses, and won't want any cap carryover into 22/23 when they expensive RFAs to sign.

People forget Lafreniere and Byfield both had very underwhelming years in every measure (mostly pNHLe) compared to their draft position and hype. Both have to be on the table respective to get Eichel.

I can understand why each respected team would want to keep those guys, but they shouldnt be off the table when talking about trading for an elite player like Eichel.

When laf finally got top line playing time in his final 9 games he had 7 points. He got little to no power play time all year long, He11 he only topped 15 minutes 10 times all year long. It’s no wonder DQ was fired. He should easily put up 40 next season, I think he will put up around 50-55 if the new coach puts him in the right position (top six minutes, top pp unit)
