Team: 2021-22 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2021
Published: May 12, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Expansion:
Johansen, Okposo, Lindholm, Olofsson, Greenway, Thompson, Mittlestadt
Dumba, Jokiharju, Dunn
Ullmark

Minnesota trade:
Lots of pieces, value is debatable but total cap is pretty close. BUF gets pieces at F/D/G and future. MIN gets franchise center.

Calgary trade:
Flames acquire two pieces; one top 6 C/RW, one middle six winger. Sabres acquire a good player with term.

Seattle pick:
Ron Francis chooses Borgen as cheap young defenseman over Asplund, Girgensons, Hartman, Ristolainen, McCabe, Tokarski

St. Louis trade:
Blues would lose Dunn to expansion so get something for nothing. Probably a better deal out there but who knows. Maybe upgrade the pick to 2nd round.

Nashville trade:
Got creative here. If it was Johansen for Skinner I think Buffalo adds. Quinn & Bryson have more value than Del Gaizo & McCarron. Probably an overpay for BUF...would push for David Ferrance or Luke Evangelista.

Flames decline. If this is before the expansion draft we could lose Bjork. This would mean Reinhart for Lindholm? No thanks

Hmm I think they're very close but sure you can make the EL>SR argument but no way is it Reinhart plus our 1st (top 3*** pick) for Lindholm

Wild decline. Under no circumstances are wild going to trade 2 wingers, really good wingers

Ryan Hartman just signed 3 years extension, not happening

Wild aren't trading kaapo.

No... it really is not close at all. Lindholm is a legitimate center on a competitor and is one of the best 2-way players in the league. Reinhart is a top 6 RW on a competitor that can fill in at center if there is an injury

I don’t disagree with a lot of the value in the wild trade but boldy and hartman I’m loathsome to give up. Not that they are untouchable, just that boldy has a big future in minny and hartman is much like foligno, the type of 3rd line player that you need to win in the playoffs. I would be more interested in building a package around dumba, kahkonnen, greenway and futures not named Addison or boldy. Like beckman, a 1st and - I would prefer that as a starting point because it would give Buffalo solid nhl players now and solid players on their way whether a year out or from the draft.

What's the case for EL as one of the best 2 way players? Only 10 career low place selke votes. His xGA numbers are just pretty good. Idk. Why not elaborate.

Kinda wild to see three >>> for EL over Reinhart

I'd reserve that for EL over Anders Bjork

Yeah, sorry, Miller. Parayko and Faulk eat up about 50 RD minutes, and then they have Bortuzzo. So paying nearly 4M for a 7th-ish D-man isn't going to work at all. But gosh, if you're eager to give Quinn away so cheap, I'm sure the Blues would happily swap Dunn for him.

Hahah I figured he wouldn't waive his NTC. But now that I think of it, does he have to waive? Is it only NMC that need to be protected unless they waive?

Only NMC have to protect unless they waive it like Lucic.

Fair enough - I'm hoping Seattle takes Miller but why would they?

Its not as much eager to give away Quinn as it is eager to get Skinner out. I normally don't like to pay to get rid of a contract. (Like if we gave Seattle our 1st to take Skinner) but I think Johansen could do better here

The only player you can argue is untouchable (beyond NMCs) is Kaprizov. Every other player would be an option if Eichel is the return. Every one of them.

Huh? Players who just signed extension doesn't get trades without even playing one down/ one period

What you said isn't really realistic at all.

Joel Eriksson Ek is also untouchable. So no every player isn't available to be traded. It's not at all realistic, & not how it works

Teams don't operate like that especially wild

I disagree. If Kevyn Adams says he wants Eriksson Ek back I'm sure Guerin would listen and entertain
