Taking advantage of our capspace

Created by: RobinBergdahl
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2021
Published: May 12, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We have our core set. All we need is a franschise center, and there are three of those in the 2022 draft. Wright, Lambert and Savoie. If we have three picks, our chance to draft top 3 increases, and we could also try to trade up. We also add our new goalie in Sorokin for taking on a lot of dead cap from NYI.

Welcome to CFawesome face

This is quite good for a 1st AGM & Det should do this

Reckon Sorokin has too much value for that but...

Heck if you take all their bad $ like that maybe not

Tho they seem oddly to value some of those guys 😐

The isles can just buyout clutterbuck and komarov, they don’t need to make this trade. They’re not trading a franchise G to dump bad contracts

One minor nuance is the scratches here count against the 23Mroster and some of those chaps would have to be sent down or taxied but thankfully-

All the more cap space! Hm. I would recommend

Signing a veteran D to shelter Lindy & Seids

Both these team don't need to move that much cap space, but if EDM can move that for that little I think they'd do it. Isles probably not though.

Oilers only do that if they're going all in. They've already traded their 3rd or 4th that year (Kulikov- depends if Oilers win a round this year). To potentially not pick until the 4th round you have to be sure you have a real shot and I don't think they're there. I don't think the value is off, just not the right time.

More likely... Oilers buy out Neal and push the cap problem further down the road (hopefully in 3 years the cap is no longer flat), ride out 1 last year of Koskinen, and bury Turris for $600k.

Heck No, Detroit's not basically taking on 7 cap dumps just to pretty much bury them for 1st and 2nd round picks. Both Edmonton and the Islanders would easily turn this down both are giving up far too much. Just keep it simple resign our RFAs and maybe resign Bernier and Glendening for UFAs that's it.
