Realistic Eichel to WPG

Created by: tsyls
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2021
Published: May 12, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Scheifele 100% has Buffalo on his 10 team list so that immediately is out of the picture. Jets seem pretty high on Perfetti so it’s unlikely he’s moved and Heinola is definitely off the board so that makes this a lot more tough for the Jets to have an actual realistic offer for Eichel. I’ve proposed what I think is the most realistic package the Jets could offer for Eichel. Sabres fans you’ll have to let me know what you think, there are definitely teams out there that will outdo this deal, but this is IMO the best WPG can offer. Also, I’m probably going to catch some heat from Jets fans who think this is too much or isn’t worth it (IMO it’s not enough considering most teams have more quality to offer). I get your side, but this is probably the biggest and best package the Jets can offer without moving Heinola or Perfetti.

I should say that this trade happens at the entry draft. I’m sure that’s obvious with the 2021 1st going to Buffalo but just thought I’d make it clear. That 2021 1st falls between 17-20.

With Eichel on the team, the Jets protection list looks like:

Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, Lowry, Wheeler, Eichel, Appleton
Morrissey - Pionk - DeMelo/Stanley
Hellebuyck

Seattle picks: Nathan Beaulieu (explained in trade below)

And then when PLD forces his way out of his 2nd organization the Sabres will be left with....what?

Not to mention, you think Eichel will want to play in Winnipeg? That city sucks

Sabres probably have zero interest in PLD after the stunt he pulled this year

PLD only wanted out of CBJ because of torts. Don’t think that its a city issue. PLD would become the guy in Buffalo which is what he probably wants.

I definitely get your point, and it is something I considered.

Also, I’m sure Eichel would love playing with the Jets. It’s not like he has any trade protection or a say in where he’s going until his NMC kicks in anyways. He’d have incredible line mates and a real chance to win.

Yeah I considered this. But I think the PLD issue was with torts, not really the organization. So I don’t know if they’d have the same issue. I mean he’d be the guy in Buffalo and that seems to be what he wants. But I definitely could see Buffalo having 0 interest in him. God, I have to really think about if I’d consider moving Perfetti for Eichel. It would kill me to do it, but I think if you took the 2022 1st out and made it a 2nd, and swapped Perfetti for Dubois i might do it....

Like I said in the description, this likely will be seen as way too much from a Jets fans perspective, but there will 100% be teams that’ll pay this much or more for Eichel. So I don’t think it’s necessarily fair to say that. I just tried to put together what seems to be a reasonable package for Eichel.

Torts was likely part of it but you cant ever know that without talking to him personally which Buffalo can't do because of contracts

It's not from a Jets fan's perspective. I highly, highly doubt anyone pays that much, but I guess we'll see. That's a suicidal, video game kind of price.

Oh for sure we’ll never truly know what’s going on. I was just viewing this with that aside. But I can definitely see where it would cause a hiccup in the deal

Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, maybe I’m wrong, but I do know that there are multiple teams that have been confirmed to be interested in Eichel, so if it comes down to it, I’m sure there will be a deal close or exceeding the value in this.

If 8-10 teams want to get Eichel are they going to collude together and make a gentleman's agreement not to pay to much?

This is exactly my point. Which is why I tried to make my package at least comparable to what others teams will offer considering a bidding war is likely to happen in the Eichel sweepstakes.

Not bad, don't mind this, wonder what it'd take to get Eichel if he does get moved, his neck injury is concerning though.

Yeah the injury definitely is a interesting thing to consider. I’d make this deal in a heartbeat tbh. I went over the value of what Buffalo is apparently asking for to try and make it realistic for the “bidding war” that could happen. Imagine this team with a fully healthy Eichel.... damn that’s scary, also the hamilton addition IMO is becoming more and more of a possibility. Reports coming out of there is saying probably 60% chance he hits FA.
