Eichel

Description
Ovechkin deal pays 12, 11, 10, 9, .75, .75, .75, .75. If he retires early, fine. If he stays, awesome.

Buffalo needs depth up the middle. Eller brings great defensive play and can take some of the tougher minutes to let Cozens, McMichael, and Mittelstadt focus on offense. Dillon does the same for Power. If Ullmark is UFA they don't have to protect him, so they can protect Samsonov, then sign Ullmark after expansion and have two really good goalies.

WSH gives up a lot, but they could end up with three 70 point centers for a few years.

Is this enough? What should be added?

I feel like that's not gonna get it done for Eichel

The offer is actually ok (probably another solid prospect), the issue is more the pipe dream on that Ovi contract

You’d probably have a better chance at landing Eichel if you were to complete a 3 way trade with Buffalo, Columbus, and Capitals. Kuzzie to Jackets for picks/prospects, then the caps use those picks and prospects and add their own to acquire Eichel.

Buffalo declines, And once again that contract is illegal and the CBA forbids contracts being structured that way. For the last time a contract can't go from $9,000,000 to $750,000 in a single year the money has to decrease gradually not dramatically over 8 seasons perhaps 12, 11, 10, 9 ,8, 6, 4, 2 something like this would work. that comes to 8 x $7,750,000 even then Ovechkin would decline it because he's not playing for no 8 more years.

Only things Buffalo would be interested in are Samsonov, McMichael and the 2022 so it requires a 1st round prospect going of the value that Buffalo said themself

That Ovechkin contract is goin to get Washington in hot water with Bettman. Sabres trade is fine, Sabres could use another forward prospect though

Dillon is good but not needed, Eller is a good stop gap with experience and can help build a positive culture

Send Foudy with this, that would work out. Is Kuznetsov linked with CBJ?

No, I haven’t heard but we are playing with hypotheticals right now. Columbus has said they want a C for Laine, and frankly, their prospects aren’t looking good enough for Eichel. They may be able to get Kuzzie at less than market if involving them will help the Caps get Eichel. Also, I read that the caps are open to trading Kuzzie. That report probably surfaced bc of his latest team suspension.

Cause it’ll be a 35 and over contract if he retires early you’re stuck with the cap hit which means $5.5 till the contract length expires. Plus you can’t buy them out either. Way too risky. Also not allowed for salary to fluctuate like that anymore.

CBJ fans on this board aren't serious about trading for a center until the good UFAs are gone. I'm not even sure they'd give Foudy for McDavid until Danault and Krejce are off the market.
