Yep, not great.

Both goalie prospects played great this year though. Clang won MVP of his league on a last place team. You don’t see that too much. Goalie of the last place team winning MVP. Imagine what that team would have been without him.

V.Puustinen was a steal too. They call him the “Finnish Phil Kessell”. His highlights are ridiculous on YouTube. He had 41 points in 51 games(21 goals) in Liiga this year. Just 20 years old, playing against men.

That's an NHLe of 82GP - 15.856G - 15.101A - 30.957P which is impressive for a 7th rounder.

I take pause in the lack of year-over-year growth though. Almost identical numbers to what he posted last year. If he can match his Liiga production in the AHL, maybe improve on it ever so slightly, there might be an NHL player there.

Not as bad as many people act like it is. Hextall is just going to add to that. But I would truthfully put Gruden and Lee in the #2 tier but the rest is good.

Ya, Legare in Poulin are our best wing Prospects for sure. Both play in Q and light it up there. And both big kids. We’ll see next year though. Both will be playing in the AHL next year. But Puustinen is a nice surprise.

I agree but the big risk with the two boys is a matter of who their NHL pivot will be. Crosby's on a timer and Malkin is maybe on his way out? The Penguins need a pair of quality center prospects some sort of desperately.

Shame Bjorkqvist never panned out. I've had an eye on him for years.

I would love to see a Poulin for Vilardi trade b/ween Pens and Kings. Kings fans hate the idea but kings have so many Center prospects and Poulin and Byfield would be perfect linemates IMO. And Pens could definitely use the center prospects in Vilardi. Or even Poulin for Akil Thomas.

Thomas is more likely. Vilardi probably requires both Legare and Poulin with another minor piece going back to Pittsburgh. Different tier of prospect and Vilardi plays a much more valuable position, even if the Kings have a surplus.

I mean it’s pretty awful ngl but like I said, I got no complaints. It will definitely get better with Hextall now

Ya, I understand the value difference b/ween C and wings. U can look at any top prospects list for the NHL though and Poulin and Vilardi usually arnt far apart. And Vilardi played very poor last season. Bulked up and played well this season, but very poor 19-20 season.

Of course, but I would expect you guys to have better prospects. I mean look at Colorado, Vegas etc.

It’s is awful but when u put A.Angello, R.Zohorna, Lafferty in that mix.

You then have 4 prospects(players under 25) with NHL experience on play-off team, that are good bottom 6 NHL players at worst( OConnor, Angello, Lafferty, Zohorna).

And a 21 year old that played on the Top Pairing and top pairing minutes when the defense was riddled with injuries.(PO Jospeh). And played well.

They don’t have 3 SC’s in the last 11 years.

Blackhawks do, but their window is over. Without Dach and L.Reichel they are worse.

Eh maybe... That Lankinen guy is good. And they have some good young guys developing. DeBrincat, Strome, Boqvist, Kubalik, and maybe even Nylander! Borgstrom, Mitchell coming up... they got way more than you guys.

Sure they have way more than Pittsburgh, but they’re also a lottery team right now and their window (at least with Toews Kane and Keith) is likely closed. Pens still have at least one more legitimate shot at a cup this year

U forget McCann(24 years old) Marino(22), Pettersson(24), Kapanen(24), Lafferty(24), Zohorna(24), Angello(24), OConnor(23) all NHL experience on a play-off team already. Tristan Jarry just turned 25.

U want to say Guentzel(26), Blueger(26), ZAR(26), Matheson(25), Friedman(25), Riikola(26) too.

They definitely do, and I’m curious to see how far you go. With that being, said you guys are making some valid facts, and I get it.... but that isn’t a good reason not to have some decent prospects honestly... even late round drafting can get you a few..... I will be done on this post, as I have nothing else to say. Have a good day/night, you too @LetsGoPens69

I just hope Boston and the Caps beat up on each other in a close series in the 1st round..lol.

And the Pens sweep the Isles and get completely healthy

lol except for the fact the Hawks actually know how to draft and develop players unlike Pit. When Daniel Sprong and Dominik Simon are your best drafted players from the last 5 years youre pretty **** at drafting and developing talent. Chicago's pool is top 10-12 Pits is at the 29 range.

Suter, Beaudin, Lankinen, Kurashev, Mitchell, Kalynuk, that is 6 rookies from this past season who have been better than any Pens rookie the last 4 or so years.

DeBrincat is better than Guentzel. DeBrincat had a 30 goal and a 40 goal season at 20 and 21 meanwhile Guentzel didnt even make it into the NHL until he was 23...
Guentzel at 23 playing with Sid 48pts in 82GP. DeBrincat at 23 PPG winger with 30 goals in a 56 game season (and only 52GP) and of their 4 seasons overlapping eachother DeBrincat has been the better player 3 out of 4 with the only exception being 2020 and considering one player is 26 and the other was 22 the edge goes to the 22 yearold every day of the week.

The fact that you even list guys who are 26 and up is hilarious. May as well just go all out on being dumb and list Crosby as a young guy.

A vast majority of those players arent even good. Friedman has like 10 GP over the last 5 years, Riikola is a 7th Dmen, Matheson (A guy so bad Pit fans were rioting on this board for trading for him), and then a bunch of nobodies like these guys Lafferty(24), Zohorna(24), Angello(24), OConnor(23) ???

Debrincat, Strome, Suter, Kubalik, Lankinen, Boqvist, Dach, Reichel, Kurashev, Beaudin, Hagel, Barratt, Teply, Altybarmakyan, Kayumov, Comesso, Borgstrom is miles better than any young group Pit has had for the last 5+ years let alone right now. The players I listed are good enough to make their national teams for the worlds meanwhile youre out here throwing out a bunch of career AHL'ers like Friedman, Angello, and 26 yearold Sam Lafferty as if they are relevant and promising guys tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy
