Seems pretty realistic! They will definitely lose Graves, but it shouldn’t matter with Byram coming up. It will be interesting to see what Sakic does to try and keep Burakovsky, Nichushkin, and Kadri after this off-season. Maybe Newhook can take Kadris spot... but yah good job!

if Frankie is healthy, why are the avs trading him. Their biggest issue was quality back up while he was injured. Seems logical to just play the quality back up that you already have signed if thats the case

Not a fan of that Canucks trade, the downgrade and saving 500k is not enough just for a 2nd round pick. Compher has been playing very very well down the stretch, no need to give him way in a dump like that

Francouz was a cap casualty in this case, he could be kept if Landeskog and Makar take less.

As for the Compher trade, it's more about the year after when Burakovsky, Kadri*, Nichushkin need new contracts. It's also a Vancouver pick that could be around 40th

I think I'd rather just pay bellemare 1-1.5 to play 4c.. the devil you know

Vancouver probably balks at that deal, though there is so much irrational hate for Compher.

Or just let Bowers do it. At some point the Avs are going to have to cycle these young guys into the line up to make use of their contracts.

Byram will get paired with Makar because Toews and Girard have been awesome together and when he has been on the ice this year Byram has been awesome defensively. Nit picking though. Sorry very reasonable ACGM

with what they went through this year with the Back up, I dont think they can justify that as a cap casualty move, they need him.

Draft picks are fine but they dont help the Avs win the cup now, compher does, a downgrade in beagle and a guy you might see in the line up 3-4 years down the round dont.
The only guy that matters is Bura trying to keep but they dont have the cap space for that. Kadri is gone, he could even be traded this offseason with Newhook settling in as quickly as he is and playing 2C instead of Kadri.

Putting the best possible line up is more important than downgrading that much in net and 4c to pick up a draft pick and 2m in cap space. If they expose those moves they wont be downgrading that much in key positions for them. Hockey trades over dumps

I agree, Bellmare would sign for cheap, they have bowers as a call up or if they have to, play Jost there if Avs have Mack Newhook and Kadri down the middle already. Kadri at 3C for 1 year with Landy Rants Bura Donskoi Nuke and Kaut being the top 9 wingers.

So Chicago "upgrades" their goaltending by trading for a 30 yearold goalie with a storied career of 34 games all of which being behind a great team. I would honestly bet any of Lankinen and Subban would be better in Colorado than Francouz and Grubauer would be in Chicago. A lot easier to stop 16-20 shots an entire game than consistently facing 35-40 shots a game

Grubauer was the least rested goaltender in the league this year with 26 games with only a 1-day rest. There are also ways to measure a goalie's efficiency adjusted to the quality of the shots, angle, distance, etc. Grubauer saved 4.26 scoring chances and Lankinen saved -6.57. You may be right about Francouz only playing behind a good team, but Subban played behind a good Vegas team from 2017 to 2019 and saved -7.51 scoring chances for those two seasons combined.

Francouz has been good in every league that he has played in. NHL, KHL, AHL, International. There is a proven and reliable quality track record with him. As we talked about the reason why avs wouldnt trade him bc of how solid of a back up his is.

    Fair enough,

Anyways, would you be interested in joining a playoffs pool with some other CapFriendly users? It's a pool in which you have to select one player per box of 5 and that's it. The user with the most total points wins.

Doesn't Colorado have to protect Erik Johnson because of his no movement clause?
