Our three best prospects and our next two first round picks?? That's not happening. Also we could never afford Eichel's cap hit that way.

The whole deal is flawed. We can't take on that much cap without sending roster players back. There is absolutely zero chance of trading our top prospects and 1st round picks for Eichel. We're going to have to send money back the other way, likely involving Dumba.

I'm not saying they wouldn't be involved. I'm saying we can't trade just futures to get Eichel. We still have to fit under the cap and there's no possible way to do that without sending at least 1 (more likely 2) roster players the other way. The trade might work from Buffalo's perspective, but it isn't possible from Minnesota's perspective. No need to be a dick about it.

It does work cause you then flip dumba to another team, Buffalo doesn't want roster player unless they are young they want futures they won't take cap if it takes away from the value we get in futures.

The trade isn't worth it if we have to pay more assets after the fact in order to move contracts just to get cap compliant. We wouldn't make the trades before getting Eichel in case it fell through and if we waited until after the fact, we would be over a barrel and likely have to pay teams to take players for cap relief even if the players (for example, Dumba) still have some positive value right now.

The idea of "well just flip players to another team" doesn't really happen in the real world. I can think of 1 time it happened and it was Vegas taking an absolute bath on Schmidt because they had less than a day to move him off the roster because they were signing Petro. Outside of that, I can't think of any examples. Even if there are other examples, I doubt there's any that worked out well for the team having to clear money quickly. Chances are, the other team also won't be able to take on $10 million in cap so that means working out multiple deals and probably taking money back which just further complicates it. In a flat cap world, I don't see any chance of something like this working out well for a team.

If you're looking to only add players 22 or under, and refuse to take back any useful NHLer (not a cap dump like Rask) to help even out salary, then that's likely a dealbreaker. I doubt you'll be able to find any team willing to make a deal like that.

What you do is you line up a dumba trade and another trade on the circumstances that Eichel is traded to the wild, and a guy like dumba would have value if there was a bidding war. Trading is different than FA when your getting pietrangelo
