why would Varlamov be worth that much? Blues would never give all that up for him nor would they even want him over Allen.

Sabres giving up too much. This year is already lost, or else they would have made a move earlier. They're going to sit and wait for their young kids to step in next year, or if a trade is made, it's going to be Kane. Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto are untouchable.

Not enough negative stars to give this a rating. As much as I dislike Allen and never thought he was ready, I'd rather have him than Varlamov. Plus, Varly isn't worth that much to begin with. Secondly, Parayko is close, if not already our best overall defenseman, shouldn't trade him. Hamonic won't want to stay here. He wants to be with family up north. Bozak is better than Lehtera, but not worth throwing Schmaltz into that deal.

Sabres wouldn't be giving up too much in this deal. However, you're right in that they'd much rather give up Kane

The Sabres have their franchise dman. Ristolainen, 5th in the league in defensive scoring and avg's 25-27mins a game. I would love Parayko on the Sabres but not at the cost of Reinhart.

I think the trade with buffalo is pretty fair, probably need to add a little more going to Buffalo. Maybe a second rounder but maybe a little back from buffalo like 4th. But close. I just think Sam is to valuable to jack eichel. I don't think they do it.

Avs fan here, you can probably get Varlamov for less and it might be a smart buy low value buy as this year's been a disaster for the whole team.

I don't think Reinhart is "untouchable", but the 2nd is too much. Reinhart for Parayko is pretty close straight-up. Probably a late pick sweetener going to STL (4th or later pick) to make up the slight difference.

Like I said this one was just for fun but whoever thinks Allen is better than Varlamov has to be the homer of all time homers. Varlamov has had to play for a pretty inadequate defense his entire career while Allen has played behind one of the league's best. Allen is a mental case who will never be a 1A goalie. He's a good backup.

It's possibly too much to give up for Varly but the Blues were willing to give up 2 1st's for Miller....

For the Bozak deal Toronto would want a pretty good sweetner added to take on Lehtera (assuming)

I looked up Varlamov's NHL stats and compared them to Miller's stats in the same timeframe before his trade from Buffalo and was surprised to find how similar they were:
Miller (2006 - 2014): 2.59 GAA; .916 Sv%
Varlamov (2008 - 2016): 2.59 GAA; .917 Sv%

I think the big difference is the accolades; with Miller having won the Vezina and Olympics MVP in 2010.

Possibly.

I like stats as much as anyone else but they never tell the entire story. If you compare Allen & Varlamov's career stats they're close as well. After watching both goalies nobody should walk away thinking they're that close overall. Allen has the size and physical tools. It's all mental with him. He is going to let in the soft ones more so than possibly any other NHL goalie. He will dazzle with great saves and dash all your hopes with the soft ones.

It's who he's been since arriving in the NHL.

The only people wanting to trade Reinhart are Bills mafia bandwagoners who, lost their S**t because he didnt have 20 goals in the first half of the season, and have already jumped ship this season. As long as GMTM is here, Reinhart is an untouchable. GMTM will want way to much back and their are very few teams that would be willing to pay, even less in season.
