Kings aren't trading a 24 year old under club control for a 29 year old and a worse draft pick.

Kempe is also more than twice as cheap ($2M) and an RFA after next season

LA has no interest in swapping Zucker for Kempe.

Blues decline, thanks. We don;t need any more LDs. let alone one that would be about the 5th-6th best on our team.

I'll join the chorus of my esteemed LA colleagues by declining this trade, even if my friend @PuckLuck_77 misread the draft picks.

I think it's wonderful that you predict that Marcus Pettersson will be exposed to Seattle in the expansion draft, while one of YOUR fellow adherents keeps flogging him as worth a serious player.

Maybe I did misread them... I could have sworn the 4th was going to LA. Thats part of the reason I remember dismissing this so quickly. Maybe he edited it, or may I am truly just dyslexic lol.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that OP's can edit their constructions AFTER people comment, and many do so surreptitiously. I'm not saying that happened here, but it does explain your departure from your usual accuracy.

I did not adjust, that was the original trade. Zucker goals from 14-20: 21,13,22,33,21,20 - he has not faired well in pgh for the year and half that he has been here and need to lose some cap expense. Compare him to Perron, solid player not elite but potential and just didnt mesh in Pgh and Perron having solid end of career in STL. Kempe hasn't hit 20 goals yet in his career and if going to be top line winger going to have to put better numbers. No idea how the Kings feel about him going forward I just saw his name was tossed around at the deadline this year so thought could be a possibility maybe a prospect added in.

My apologies then regarding the draft picks.

Unfortunately for the Pens, my original argument still stands. Kempe's name could have been floated, but it was never going to be for anything other than 1 of 2 things.

1: Winger in the 25-27 range (Zucker is outside of that).
2: "Dynamic, young LHD" whatever that means. So likely a LHD still on or just coming out of ELC to fit in with the kids.

Zucker doesn't fit the profile for a rebuilding team. Not to mention everyone's production slips in LA due to ... who knows. The system, the personnel, black magic voodoo, the hockey gods hate goals in LA, I dunno. So I can't imagine a change of scenery would do Zucker any better here.

MP won’t be exposed. He will be protected. Zucker is likely exposed and selected. I think MP will be used in a trade during the offseason, probably the draft. And for that reason, I’d rather keep Riikola because we will need the LHD depth. I wouldn’t mind Bortuzzo back, but just for a pick or prospect instead. Deslauriers sucks and is only good for fighting so giving up a prospect and a pick is too much. I’d feel “meh” about giving a 7th rounder for him. With Zucker likely picked by Seattle, the kings trade wouldn’t work. Maybe that’s where MP could come into play since a kings fan said they are looking for a young LHD.
I also wouldn’t sign Foligno...would rather just re-sign Gaudreau and ERod for cheaper and get 2 players that are faster and fit the system better. Just my 2 cents.
Not a bad though.
