A one year contract for Reinhart brings him to UFA, and thus brings his value down. I think this trade is pretty bad for vancouver.

Buffalo would never do this and Virtanen is KHL bound after his buyout.

this is exactly what I was going to say about Virtanen - but a miller for Reinhart deal is actually not a bad idea for both teams - but this is not the package

its a bad idea for buffalo. we know a lot of players cant figure it out in buffalo and we know Reinhart can. No need to swap your clear standout for a guy you hope to be as good. In any package.

I think the biggest problem I have with this is a 1-1 Miller-Reinhart trade (Virtanen is 100% getting bought out or terminated, depending on how the allegations pan out) doesn't help either team. Buffalo don't need Miller, they need a rebuild. Although Reinhart is better than Miller, that doesn't give Vancouver the extra top 6 winger/3C/defenseman they need to succeed.
