Doubtful Rakell has been regressing for last 4 years. Few UFA guys who would give same or more value

Would rather 2022 to 2021 1st. Would rather keep Wood.
But Phil Kemp may be good pick-up here. Need the depth.

He has regressed but he isn't exactly playing with world beaters. Put Rakell on a line with 97 and 29 and magic follows.

Kemp is very solid, had a great college career and good AHL season until he busted his hand in a fight. 2022 vs 2021 probably works, either way it's a salary dump and the Oilers get a very useful middle 6 winger in Wood.

Maybe the same value, but Rakell is inexpensive and if extended for a few years would also be a player that could drastically outperform his contract. Worst case scenario is he is a more useful version of Kahun.

If playing 97 and 29 together then wouldn’t jp be the logical choice to complete that line? I’m not totally against rakell as a target if the price is right in this case finding hard to see getting enough out of rakell to justify the cost.

Yes, misttyped that. Should have read 97 OR 29. If the plan is 97 and 29 on the same line then definitely JP is the best choice, but separating them and keeping Nuge and Yamamoto with Drai, Connor with an extremely skilled player like Rakell is ideal.
