That does look like a winning Eichel trade. It's enough. Just depends on other offers.

I'd be very surprised if Kaprizov takes that deal. He probably gets 9M or so.

He's not going anywhere

The plan for wild is to add to their c core, not take away. Wild aren't trading their selke candidate c whose broken out offensively the past 2 years. He's a complete shutdown c also

Then the Wild aren’t getting Jack Eichel. Can you explain why replacing JEE (who I think is really good!) with a superstar like Jack Eichel is taking away from the C core?

MN has 1 center now in JEE. Trade that 1 center for another center and MN still only has 1 center. But now MN has roughly $5m less a year in cap, and whatever other assets are lost in the trade is lost in the trade to find a 2nd center with. Basically 1 position gets better, but the team overall gets worse.

The Wild team overall is better off with JEE + top-6 center (Danault, Money, Reinhart, one of the Stromes, etc) + their most of their assets for about the same overall cap as Eichel alone.

Wild don't need to trade JEE, they have other assets they can easily move

Marco Rossi is a center prospect they can easily move, there's no reason the Wild will or should trade JEE, if they want Jack they can get him without giving him up. Trading him keeps you with a void at 2C, they need to keep him

Yeah but what I’m saying is that you can’t have Eichel without JEE. So. Yeah.

No, they easily can get Eichel without trading JEE. The Sabres aren't getting a full team for Jack

Not a full team but any team trading for Eichel needs to have a young top6 center in the package to backfill the need for BUF

Or a great center prospect? "*IF* this trade was proposed to Buffalo, they'd be foolish to decline. JEE is becoming one of the better young centers in the league, selke candidtate that put up 20 goals in this shortened season. No chance Buffalo gets him. Sabres are far away from being a playoff team again, they just need ot rebuild

Teams are about more than 1 player. Otherwise BUF would have been in the Playoffs about every year since they drafted Eichel. MN only has 1 center in JEE. Trade him and MN still only would have 1 center. The same team flaw exists, only with a lot less cap space to fill in the holes in the roster.

Eichel is better than JEE, nobody is saying otherwise. What we've all been saying is it doesn't make sense from a team build perspective.

You are going to be very dissapointed with the return Eichel gets if that's your mindset. As a sabres fan I'd be more than thrilled with this return, and I doubt we get this. This is a lot, Sabres are not getting JEE
