Description
I've posed this question to a few of you & have gotten a few different answers, so I thought I would go ahead and throw this ACGM out there for Rangers fans to discuss what they think would need to be added for fair value in a Pavelski (at 50%) for Schneider trade.
Trades
NYR
  1. Pavelski, Joe ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I'm curious what Rangers fans think it would take to complete this trade. First, is Schneider moveable? If so, how close is the value here?

Personally, I don't think there's enough value going to New York here, but I'm curious on your thoughts of what it would take to finish this deal.

Realistically no, but I'm still curious nonetheless.

EDIT: He also goes from a full NMC to a M-NTC next season, so he does lose a little bit of that trade control.

I think he loses the NMC but M-NTC is same for all three years. (3 teams he would agree to move to).

Definitely intrigued. Would prefer to move a 1st instead of a Prospect. But with the Salary retention, on top of the fact that he was pretty good this year, it gets my attention.

Realistically, if the Rangers wanted to do this, they could probably take on the entire Contract for next year. Plenty of Cap room for 21-22.

He had a full NMC the first two seasons that protected him from trade anywhere. He elected not to keep the NMC going into year 3 so that Dallas could leave him open in the expansion draft if they wanted to, but he now carries a M-NTC this season, which he had not had prior the 3rd year of this contract

I’ve always been a big Schneider fan which is what spurred on this train of thought. Dallas needs some significant help on the right side of their blue line after Klingberg.

Heiskanen is great, but I would love to be able to move him back to LD. Unfortunately for Dallas, that means that Vatanen or Taylor Fedun would slide into that 2RD role & lets be real...that’s just gross. Not saying Schneider would come in immediately, but given how barren their RD prospect pool is too, it fills a MASSIVE area of need for Dallas.

A first from Dallas would make this deal fair

Anyone is moveable - rangers really like Schneider though. Plays a tough and physical game. After the Wilson incident, the Rangers could use more size and strength - not saying hes a fighter but adds some grit to the lineup.

Yup. They traded up to get him and his stock has gone up.

Pavelski is about to be 37 years old.

I'd do Howden for Pavelski at 50%

You realize that Pavelski almost had more points this year than Howden had in his career.

I didn't comment on the Pavs Schneider thing, I commented on your take about Howden.

If you read the description & the comment under the trade, I’m not suggesting a 1-for-1. I even said that there isn’t enough value going to the Rangers in a 1-for-1 deal. Of course there would be other pieces to flush out the value, this is just base of the deal.

yeah - a drastic overpayment.

You need to get the Rangers from Howden-level, where your proposal is at, up to Schneider. Not really seeing that happening with Schneider.

Sign DeAngelo after he's bought out.
