Most of the feedback I've seen in similar circumstance is that Anaheim likely doesn't trade Gibson to a division rival. There's also the philosophy that they simply don't need to trade Gibson at all: with the high-end pieces coming together it's likely that the Ducks will have a new contending window before Gibson is too old to sustain his play while he mentors Dostal.

Personally if the Ducks are looking at trading Gibson to the Oilers, I think the ask is Broberg, Lavoie, and two firsts. Edmonton doesn't necessarily need to move Koskinen in this deal (albeit they should to utilize his money elsewhere). If Fowler isn't traded as he is in this AGM and Lindholm doesn't extend there isn't a lot in terms of top-pairing or top-4 LHD in the Ducks' system. Acquiring Broberg helps plug this hole. Lavoie is a textbook compliment to Zegras as a massive power forward with a knack for volume shooting. The firsts are requisites given that Edmonton is a divisional rival. Any club outside of the Pacific is maybe looking at a 1st and a 2nd instead, and any club outside of the Western conference maybe a 1st and a 3rd.

Personally, at that price I don't think it's a trade Edmonton should consider. Gibson is an excellent netminder but there's so much value lost for Edmonton in that deal. Likewise, I think the Ducks are better off hanging onto Gibson long-term.

WOAH...you think you can get Cam York and then some for an overpaid, 29 year old LHD man? That's gonna be a hard no!

These moves postpone any hope of contention for at least two years. The most valuable thing you've traded away are the six years of having our goalie position settled.

No point in trading away a veteran center for such a minor return. No point in trading away our starting goalie without getting an elite player in return. And before you tell me that Puljujarvi and Yamamoto are elite, please compare their statistics this year with Rickard Rakell's, even though there are subtle indications that Puljujarvi and Yamamoto play on a better offensive team than Rakell. And even if Philadelphia is one of the four teams on Cam Fowler's trade list, we won't be trading five years of him without getting a 2021 first-half first-round pick for him in return.

Fowler's stats this year were comparable to Ivan Provorov's. You could look it up. And far superior to the other stiffs you have on that blue line. I notice that you guys gave up 22 more goals this year than we did.

Oilers aren’t going to give away both top six RW and a bunch of draft capital. Can’t be fixing one position by completely tearing down another one step forward two steps backwards

When you have no offense, you have no choice but to try and play 1-0 or 2-1 games. And yes, every Flyers fan knows Provy had a down year but Fowler is NOT close to Provy lol.

The only way we ever trade John Gibson is if Lukas Dostal proves he's so good that he can replace him and not a moment sooner. No rebuild is even worth it if we don't have a foundational goalie to build around. Also, we'd never get that kind of return. Teams simply don't trade elite starters nor do they mortgage so much for a goalie.

Also, when has a full-blown rebuild ever worked? Can anyone point to recent Stanley Cup champions and say they got there because they blew it all up once and built a winner from the ashes? If anything most Cup teams have had generation talent selected with the first or second pick (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane, Toews, Hedman, Stamkos, Doughty) and they got those players from being really bad for one season and getting lucky. We've been awful for three straight seasons and are about to draft another stud to go along with our last two so maybe we should focus on cutting the dead weight and letting our good players help turn this thing around.

What does having no offense have to do with being 31st out of 31 teams in goals against? And the fact that Provorov had a down year doesn't make Fowler a bad player, or nowhere near as bad as the other stools in your d-zone.

The idea that rookie York is an acceptable alternative to Fowler, even two years from now, or that Philadelphia would decline this offer if made, is ill-considered and preposterous.

You said you guys gave up less goals than us. Well ya, you play a purely defensive game (because you have ZERO offense), you should give up a lot less goals. If you honestly think the Flyers would even consider this trade, well, you are clueless. The absolute very last thing we need is another mid pairing LHD man, especially who is aging and makes $6.5 per for the next 1/2 decade until he is 35.

Pulju pretty much has been elite this year. great defensively and still does the offense quite well too. Rakell is probably worse than both Yamamoto and Pulju lol.

You can laugh out loud all you want to, but facts are facts:

Rakell . . . . . . . . . . 52 games - 9 goals, 19 assists, 28 points playing with Getzlaf and Henrique
Puljujarvi . . . . . . . 54 games - 15 goals, 10 assists, 25 points playing with McDavid and Draisaitl
Yamamoto . . . . . 52 games - 8 goals, 13 assists, 21 points playing with McDavid and Draisaitl

Now, I'm not saying that Rakell has the same value as either Oiler even without considering their contract lengths, because I readily concede that both of them are on the ascending side of their careers whereas Rakell is highly unlikely to improve significantly. All I'm saying is that in the context of a trade for John Gibson, these guys don't approach the level of quality necessary.

Henrique is no longer the quality of center we actually need, so, no.
