Why would Carolina make this deal? They can afford to wait on Drury, and Chytil doesn't really do anything right now.

Eh, a mid 1st round pick in this draft isn’t as enticing as it normally. Not sure Dallas does something like this.

Is this draft supposed to be weak? Not a draft expert so just curious.

Thanks.

There are some solid pieces in the top 7-8, but compared to recent drafts it really thins out once you get into the double digits. You get to the late teens & you've got guys that are probably fringe 1st Round picks in recent drafts. If you want value in draft picks, look at next years draft. Early indications are that it's supposed to be absolutely stacked with talent

Definitely a weaker Draft, yes. Considering 1 year of Pavelski, with Rangers taking the full Cap hit without retention, figured would have been enough to warrant the mid 1st.

If he hadn't have just gone for a 75 point pace (over 82 games) this season, that'd be one thing, but even a year of a guy that just had the year he did is going to warrant a bit more than a mid-1st in 2021. If this all happened NEXT year and it was the 2022 draft, that's a much different story, but this draft is just not deep enough for a 1-for-1 trade given where the Rangers are currently drafting.

Seen interest in Chytil from Canes fans on this site. Didn't know how far off Drury was from being fully up to speed in the NHL. Figured Canes would prefer to take a crack at Chytil. Showed improvement this year, while still climbing up.

Canes probably say yes, but I personally would like to keep Drury. He looked good in the SHL this year and I want to see if he can do the same in the NHL

He does nothing. Carolina's top line isn't being broken up, and Necas as a 2nd line RW is better in every way. I know he can play down the middle too, but Trocheck and Staal both had better years than Chytil. There's no need for Carolina to make a move for more forward power. What they have is already very strong.
