I get the idea behind 5 years at 5 mill for Dahlin (projecting forward) or HOPE.
But my god he was absolutely awful this year. Alot of nights his analytical numbers were the worst in the league. Im not saying trade him or give up on him just trying to say 5mill is alot of money for a player that was among the worst defenceman in the league last year.

Anyone else here consider Tkachuk to be more valuable than Eichel especially given his RFA status *show of hands* 🙋‍♂️ bueller bueller bueller

Cherry picking a few bad nights is disingenuous

Analytically he was very good this season as ever he ends the year with a 3.8% Corsi rel and a xGF rel around 2 in the positive also ~ 50th in D pts/60

From 2018-20 he was also similarly good

This is an article by Travis Yost explaining what i mean. His game and numbers were not good last year. Again im not saying this is a major concern , im connecting this concern with the arm chair Gm post of 5 years at 5 mill contract for player that hasnt played at a 5 year 5 mill pace. Next year he might play at a 7 mill 5 year pace

Im also not saying that a 5 year 5 mill contract wouldnt work out to be an amazing contract for Buffalo. Im simply saying hes not worth 5 years at 5 mill as we type today.
