All those great picks in the most crapshoot draft you could dream up... doesn’t actually bode that well imo

I think this draft is underrated. Clarke has top pairing potential, Beniers can create a great 1-2 centre punch with Cozens

You can keep Reinhart. Also interesting to note, he's removed BUF from his IG profile. He's gonna leave anyway.

I just mean that because of the pandemic, we’ve lost a ton of scouting and potential info on these kids. Everything outside the top 10 is unpredictable. Those second round picks aren’t as valuable as they normally might be

This is neat

Value underwhelming for Eichel ultimately

But a tactful approach ✔

I think you're both right to extents

Unique scenario ultimately

Eager to see how it plays out in a few decades

Value for Eichel isn't there, Vancouver could get a top 4 pick if they lose their remaining games. So i don't see Benning giving away that pick it might be even Luke Hughes, Vancouver and Buffalo both say no.

I like the Vancouver trade even though some people may not like it. Vancouver gets a top 6 player while Buffalo gets a high pick.

For the Eichel trade, the only thing I would switch is Boldy and Rossi. Rossi would be Eichel's "replacement" and the Sabres can reunite Rossi and Quinn. And switch the second to Pittsburgh's first

Who was the last team to trade a top 5 pick away? Vancouver is not giving away a top pick for a player who will be an UFA next year.

This narrative is getting blown WAY out of proportion. Where the draft will get silly is in the late rounds with some real steals. It's not like the 1st round is some complete mystery box. We know which players are really good, There's just a lot more debate over who is best.

I don't think they'll have a top 5. They have 4 games left and if they win at least two games, they'll have the 9th pick (assuming they don't win the lottery). Reinhart is an RFA born in Vancouver. He'll sign long term.

You haven't looked at the roster they are dressing then. They are playing a tank roster and will finish in 3 rd or 4 th. Teams don't trade top 10 picks. You are going to see an underwhelming return on a few players . Reinhart will sign long term in Vancouver but it does not have to be this year . It can be next year.

I was about to put Rossi instead , I’m very high on Boldy too. But I figured with Buffalo passing on Rossi in the draft, they may not be as high on him. But yeah if they can come out with Rossi, Tippett, Greenway and a couple of 1sts that’s a really good haul

Yeah Buffalo don’t need Dumba but he would be part of a 3 way trade if need be and Buffalo can retain too to get more out of it

Information asymmetry = value creation
The mid round picks are MORE valuable to teams that have good scouting departments.
(Unfortunately, Buffalo has pretty thin amateur scouting team)

I am 100% with this.
There will be a team that will seek to stockpile mid round selections from OHL, USHS....and do very well.

If they get at least 1 point in 4 games (very possible) they'll get 5-7 pick. The chances of the Canucks drafting a player as better than Reinhart isn't that high. The reason top 10 picks don't get traded often is because top 10 picks are usually really good. This draft is weaker than most drafts. Reinhart just had one of his best season's of his career on a horrible Sabres team. Reinhart wants out of Buffalo and im guessing he'll sign a long term extension once he gets dealt

Im guessing the reason they passed on Rossi is because they had Eichel and Cozens as their centers. Or because they are really dumb

I know all the facts but you are not getting a top 10 pick. Vancouver fanbase would go nuts. The media would have a field day about the ineptness of management. I think you will be looking at Schmidt and this years second round pick or Vancouver would just walk away.

Even beyond that I think there will be real opportunities for teams to invite promising prospects who fall through the cracks to camp, then sign them for free. There will also probably be a good amount of D+1 guys taken in the 2022 draft.
