Offseason Moves - San Jose

Created by: Hockyluv21
Team: 2021-22 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2021
Published: May 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
San Jose wins the lottery for the 1st overall pick. They select LHD Owen Power from Michigan. Through the Duchene/Karlsson swap and Seattle taking Brent Burns, San Jose has a much better cap situation all of a sudden, enough to extend Hertl after the season. The defense after Karlsson and Burns is sent off isn't great, but also full of young, developing talent like Ferraro, Merkley, Power, and Knyzhov.

No chance Nashville leaves Ellis exposed. They'd rather go 4-4 than risk losing one of their top 4 for nothing.

firstly Burns is definitely not going to Seattle unless he waves his M-NTC
secondly Karlsson for Duchene really? i would want to trade a offensive defenceman for a 8M dollar forward who if this was a 82 game season would have 31 points...
and Duchene really wanted nashville so he probably wont wave his NMC to go to San Jose

I went 4-4-1 with Nashville. I chose Saros, Forsberg, Jarnkrok, Kunin, Arvidsson, Josi, Ekholm, Carrier, and Fabbro as my nine to protect. Explanation as to why I exposed Ellis is shown here, as Carrier has a bargain contract now that he's played himself into the NHL: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2393596

Duchene doesn't have a NTC, so he's free to move anywhere.

NTC doesn't apply for the expansion draft -- only NMC applies. Burns doesn't have a say there.

Sharks fans and Preds fans both don't like the trade...that sounds pretty even to me. It's a good old-fashioned change-of-scenery swap.
