Ok so you are slow on the understanding.
Its not about last however many years its about the next few.
Kutzy is out in DC reguardless... hes going. He was garbage this year and they know it in DC.
He is an incredibly hard sell with that cap hit.
Always amazed at having to state the obvious....
He missed time this year for an early injury, covid protocol, more covid exposure protocol, and a coach-issued suspension for arriving late at a team meeting. In the months of March and April, when he played pretty steadily, he was a top 20 center.
He tried drugs, and said he regrets it, which puts him in line with about 60% of Americans. DeAngelo tried beating up teammates. But all that aside, you're dumping millions in cap on WSH when they're trying to give Ovechkin and Samsonov raises, but they have no big expiring deals. It is not happening as written, no matter how much you try to insult the guy.
eta: while Deangelo's skill would be welcome anywhere they think they can get him to play some defense, WSH has Orlov and Schultz for secondary blue line offense. Orlov started slow, but since March he and Fox are tied for 4th among defenders in even strength points, and Schultz is tied for 24th. If the top 30 are scoring like #1 defensemen, they kinda have three of them, but if Deangelo can get back to that level, then of course there's a price where any team would take him. This just is not a workable deal for WSH under the flat cap, and I don't personally like the value. (2nd edit) but I still agree that some team could buy low on Kuznetsov while the coach is giving him a hard time and benching him. I also agree he's a good fit for NYR, and would be waaaaay cheaper than Eichel for the same skill level or possibly even a little better, plus a common first language with NYR's two top scoring wings. The fit is 100% there. Revise, or look back at the dozens of Kuznetsov to NYR posts Rangers fans made last offseason for ideas?
