Marner was snakebit and honestly maybe with JT things would have been better for him who knows. Maybe Dubas does move him but its risky on both ends to do so.

Marner is a vital part of our PK so thats something to consider.

Marner got stuck inside his own head, and couldnt shake it. He had something going on mentally he couldnt break out of. Maybe it was his mistake in game 6, maybe it was he's too hard on himself, and blames his lack of production for their loss.

JT didnt do anything lul he got hurt. Despite his production drop his stats both offensively and defensively were great. 50 points in 56 games does not hurt either. His impact was pretty visible and when he gets knocked out man does this team collapse. At least when Matthews got hurt JT rallied the team and they got 2 shutouts against Mcdavid lul

I never said JT was bad, and Marner or Nylander getting moved is more likely, but he could still be a move that could help change things up a bit.

Problem was. The guys they brought in to steady a team at times like this. Tavares, Muzzin hurt. Foligno, playing hurt. Thornton..... dunno what happened there.

They had to lean on the guys who crumbled before and they crumbled again.
That being said. I honestly think there's a Conn Smythe trophy in Mitch Marners future if he's traded to a different market.

I think the Vets can be leaned on but that team looked defeated.. idk they needed Muzzin and JT. Those are guys are the VOICES in that room, when they speak they’re heard and they injuries definitely hurt.

But those top end guys sucked. I give no excuses. Nylander basically was alone with some vets, bottom 6ers and a good goalie who got beat by a better goalie. Matthews playing well ties that game. Marner playing well changes shifts and periods. Instead you have some scraps and Nylander lifting too much. Those vets went there to win, not play like they’re in their primes (that’s why they’re vets). Honestly Babcocks strictness coulda been useful and put a loud and angry voice in that room. They played like nothing was happening on or off the ice.

I’m never again picking the Leafs to win in my bracket challenge.
