Kuznetsov

Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2021
Published: May 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I generally don't know how Kuznetsov's value has been effected this season in all honesty. I've seen a few posts with Kuzy getting dealt for sub par returns. I threw this together but would like input from some Caps fans regarding a realistic return for Kuznetsov. Thanks gents!

Why not just keep Strome (and the other assets in the proposed trade) and extend him?
Kuz seems to have some baggage...and is he really that much better than Strome?

Kuznetsov is a coke junkie, Not sure why anyone would want him. he's basically driving himself out of Washington.

This would be so dumb. You don't add someone who uses coke to your young lineup. Talk about an awful influence. Doesn't matter if he's good.

Can't imagine he's the only player in the NHL that abuses illegal substances.

I don't really care what he does outside of the rink.

Strome just isn't cutting it for me in the top 6. We need a more lethal 1-2 C punch.

Well, only one MTL fan thinks he's worth KK+1st, but when they posted it some other MTL fans thought maybe drop the pick down a bit. CBJ is at Foudy and picks. CGY is at Monahan and prospects.

Strome and some picks/prospects seems about even with what other teams' fans are suggesting. Personally, I think if they're gonna trade their 80 point center they should add a little and get another 80 point center from Buffalo, but Eichel doesn't have Kuznetsov's playoff experience or his consistent offensive totals, so I"m not sure how much they should really add.

It's not ideal. True. On the other hand, the Rangers currently have two players at $4M or higher AAV who are accused of beating people up. So that is not great, either. I think the old management team tried a character-first approach by benching Deangelo and refusing to get swept up in the hype when the announcers thought Panarin had been unfairly hurt in a fight where Panarin was the third man in. Ownership put a stop to that, so I would not be surprised to see Kuznetsov in NYC. I think if I were a Rangers' fan worried about a critical mass of obnoxious people in a locker room, I would try to get Deangelo or maybe even Panarin onto the other side of whatever I thought was a fair deal for Kuznetsov.

Who says he doesn't do it before game? He could be very dangerous putting that crap in your system and then going out there travelling at nearly 100 miles per hour. If the Caps are moving on from his substance abuse why would any other team want that distraction.

How do you suppose he gets away with drug tests? No chance.

Yes but knowingly adding someone who’s been caught is beyond ridiculous.

Well that’s why this rebuild is going to be screwed up beyond belief and when we look back in 10 years at why we didn’t have any success, it’ll be due to a massive overreaction by everyone in the organization.

Maybe in ten years that will be the narrative. For this year they're a slightly above league-average team in a way above league-average division. And I think their marketing department probably likes the current divisional alignment, so it's up to the hockey office to find a way to compete in a tough division.

When you talk about skating at a hundred miles per hour, I think you overestimate drugs. The Caps moved on from Vrana. How's that working out?

I get what you're saying....but Kuz' career seems like its hitting the skids...while Strome seems to be developing into a solid player. Sure- Panarin helps...but his game showed growth this year even outside his point totals (which everyone attributes the inflated totals to Panarin), and he also played well when not with Panarin. Ideally, the best spot for Strome is 3C...but unless he is willing to accept a significant discount (doubt it) he will probably price himself out of the lineup

Don't really know anything about gauthier and henrikson but as a caps fan this is probably the closest trade value wise ive seen for kuzy. He might even waive his NTC for New York!

Strome puts up dry points playing with Panarin. He is INFAMOUS for his lack of defensive play, he's useless on the PK, he's terrible in front of the net, he doesn't score enough of goals, unproven away from Panarin and clearly hasn't been good enough to make us a playoff team. Our goaltending, defense, and wings are stacked. It's clear what needs to change.
