Quick Sum: Pavel is a very good puck guarding offensive player who needs to work on his game without the puck. Basically a Russian Nylander

He was basically a low risk potential high reward pickup and hes been living up to expectations 5 goals and 5 assists in 10 games

He's just the next guy doing well on the Marlies that Leafs fans are going to overhype.

21 year old Russian winger who played for Peterborough and later Guelph in the OHL. Had an up and down OHL career, but when he was on, he was a pretty excellent goal scorer. He's been very good over a small sample of like 10 games for the Marlies so now he's the next Ovechkin according to some Leafs fans. Realistically, if you're a Leafs fan, he should definitely be on your radar, but probably Don't buy into the hype until he's shown something more meaningful. He could end up as something, but I wouldn't be putting any real expectations on him yet.

hes not being overhyped at all. The marlies are bad this year and he joined them late and is putting on a performance. 5 goals and assists in 10 games. That is on pace in this shortened AHL season for 20 goals and 25 assists.

Everyone agreed it was very stupid of teams to pass on him in 3 separate due to his skating issues. If you go watch scouting reports on him he was 6th in ev p1/gp in the OHL hanging with guys like Svechnikov, Hayton, Bouchard, and other guys who got drafted despite either having the exact same numbers or less. He has a wicked shot, can score from almost anywhere using all kinds of tricks, and is a puck processing monster.

to soon to say but rn hes looking like one of those undrafted steals

Even as an 'undrafted steal' he will probably cap out as a 3rd line winger and even that is still highly unlikely. People are just getting unusually hyped up for him like they do every new Marlie who performs well.

fun fact I did some digging. He has connections to Robertson and SDA. And dont know why people comparing him to Ovie so much when Ovie got drafted lul. Yes hes got a wide range of shots, and can score from almost anywhere but Ovie is a physical kind of player. Goglov is not. Goglov actually reminds me a lot of Nylander, just is significantly better with holding on to the puck (i.e. u got to take a penalty or the goalies got to catch it to get it away from him)

Since the AHL season is short (Done tomorrow) really did not get to see much of him in a full season but still 5 goals and assists in 10 games aint bad for his first AHL season

Would not mind Dubas signing him and getting him 1 more year in the AHL to see what we got. But if he can perform well would be a nice undrafted steal on a cheap contract we can use in this flat cap and to also increase our scoring depth on all the lines.

His biggest strength, he has an NHL level shot already. His skating may prevent him from getting to open ice but that’s what Barb Underhill will help with. But he has played with SDA and Robertson, which could be a lethal line next year with the Marlies. The future is looking bright with McKenna showing promise also.

He's a free wallet. Undrafted, signed an AHL deal. Has some offensive creativity and a knack for putting the puck in the net. He's doing well with the Marlies so far, which is obviously better than the inverse, but he's still got a ways to go if he's gonna be anything.

Naturally, a highlight pack doesn't nearly tell you everything you need to know, but here's his last year in the OHL:
