Panik is a cap dump so I think we'd have to pay a 3rd/4th for someone to grab him. Also, that contract for Vrana will make him expire a UFA so I say a big NO on that one. You gotta sign him up longer term than that. Other than that not bad.

Panik is still quite a decent player and I wouldn’t say a cap dump, he just doesn’t fit my line scheme, the Vrana deal has him still expiring an RFA, I figured he gets a bridge deal to make sure this season wasn’t just a one time thing and that he can consistently produce points at this rate

Are you sure I am pretty sure if Vrana signs a 1 year deal that expires as a UFA. I could be wrong here, and also normally I wouldn't say Panik is a cap dump but in this flat cap era I think he's considered a minor cap dump around the league.
EDIT: Figured it out you're right a 1 year bridge deal would still keep him as an RFA.

Yeah I can understand why you’d classify him as a minor cap dump, but maybe a team with a lot of space like New Jersey could use a guy like him, Arizona was the first to come to mind but he is a solid top 9 2 way winger

At the time Yzerman acquired Vrana it was already mentioned that he has 2 RFA years left. But still i don't see Yzerman giving him only a one year deal. he'll give him similar to Mantha 4-5 years @ $5,700,000 more or less.

The money for Hronek is too low, Over the course of a full 82 game schedule Hronek is averaging 0.5 per game or 41 points over the course of 82 games. basically the same as Charlie McAvoy and Mikhail Sergachev so he'll get similar deals they received 3 x $4,800,000 or close to it.

It costed the Caps a 1st or a 2nd to dump Panik to DET
The trade was definitely not Vrana + 1st + 2nd for Mantha lol
It was Vrana + 1st vs Mantha or Vrana + 2nd vs Mantha
So to dump Panik it costed a 1st or 2nd, probably a 2nd round pick

If Yzerman's offer is on low side I can Vrana accepting it but the Wings will have NO CHANCE of keeping once he is a UFA. So you can't lowball him if you want him to stay.

I have to agree with GM's assessment it will cost around a 2nd to move him and he is a lot better than Neilson. If Detroit tries to move anyone I think its Neilson maybe a buy out but with the amount of cap space we have it really doesn't matter we could take on a couple cap dumps and not even get near the cap celling. That's part of the reason I think Detroit should take Johnson for TBs 1st rd pick. Now I know a bunch of Wings fans want more for him but if we want to keep Vrana and want Zadina to continue to develop like he did this season we need another true center and Johnson steps in and is the #2C right away. Wether its Zadina on his wing or Vrana Johnson at center makes them better and makes life a bit easier on them just like Larkin does with the wingers on the first line. Johnson also takes pressure off the 1st line as well by taking of the defensive heat off the 1st. line. You can put 2 good wingers on a line with a 3rd or 4th line center and they are far less effective than they be with a good center. That is if he will waive for Detroit.

Sorry about going off on a Johnson tangent but once I got started I just couldn't stop.

He either signs a long term deal or a bridge deal, I think they go with a 1 year bridge deal to make sure he can consistently produce at the same level
