Wait... why are we trading for Pavelski when we can just resign and keep Buch for less?

This also doesnt help the bottom 6 become more stout, difficult and better defensively. Crowse alone isnt enough.

If San Jose trades Hertl, they’ll be rebuilding, Buch wouldn’t be the right type of asset. They’d probably ask for Chytil as well since he’s a center and a 1st round pick.

Crouse, Deslauriers from Anaheim and someone like Pat Maroon would be solid additions to the bottom six.

I hate that third line, Im such a traditionalist when it comes to what a 3rd line looks like. In my eyes, the 3rd line should be your defensive guys, bruisers, nuisance guys, a speed guy, a faceoff specialist in the middle. That line just screams vulnerability.

Okay let’s not pretend Buch is a nobody. I’ll give you it’s not the right pieces in the deal, but Buch is pretty good.

Many would argue that Buchnevich value is very high coming off a career year. Hes also a RFA so the team has all the control. However as mentioned before, he may not be the player that SJS is looking for. I have Chytil and a 1st going to SJS for Hertl.

I was talking about Smith and DeAngelo for Hertl, not this trade.

No worries. But I agree that Buch is underrated. He looked good vs the Devils

That is a lot better of a deal.
