It’s been the same core group since 2015 and they have perennially underwhelmed. I have no reason to believe things would change if they run it back with the same core next year. I also think the GM may very well be on the hot seat, if he brings back the same core, he’s likely looking for a new job by spring 2022

I totally agree with you. The Flames should make a significant change next year. I was just looking at this proposal for fun. It is the best I can do if the Flames don't want to change the core but still want to retool next year. If we can get Foote and Foegele in this offseason at least I won't fire Treliving.

This will be such a difficult offseason for the Flames.

The most obvious move would be Gaudreau or Monahan. There are some issues with that though. Monahan has had two consecutive underwhelming seasons, the injury history is also getting concerning. Gaudreau is the best point producer they have. If they want to contend for a Pacific Playoff spot next year, trading your best point producer makes that a little more difficult.

My preference would be a Monahan deal, I don't think the return would be huge though. Looking bigger picture, I wouldn't be giving him extension so get what you can for him now.

Personally, I'm really starting to hope for a rebuild, this team has been mediocre for far too long. It won't happen though, not with this ownership group
