Trades
1.
MIN
  1. 2021 5th round pick (SEA)
SEA
  1. Beckman, Adam
  2. Rask, Victor
Additional Details:
This trade is simply Seattle selecting Rask in the expansion draft, and getting compensation for it. The Wild will almost certainly protect 7F/3D/1G. By doing this their 7F will be Zucc (NMC), Fiala, Ek, Greenway, Foligno, Hartman and Sturm (Parise waives his NMC, and Kaprizov does not need to be protected.) The 3D will be Spurgeon and Brodin (NMC), along with Dumba, (Suter waives his NMC.) Finally, either Talbot or Kahkonen will be protected as the G, but the potential of losing either of them, or Soucy would force the Wild to make a trade. Seattle would get Rask, and Beckman, who was one of the top scorers in the W last time there was a full season. Beckman makes the most sense as the prospect that gets traded here because he is good, but not nearly at the level of Rossi, Boldy or Addison.
2.
BUF
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. Jones, Hunter
  3. Rossi, Marco
  4. Soucy, Carson
  5. 2021 1st round pick (PIT)
  6. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Alrighty, here is the main reason I'm creating this mock roster. The Wild desperately need a 1C, there is no denying that. There is also no denying that it would take a hefty return for Buffalo to trade Eichel. The Wild are probably one of the most likely destinations for Eichel, but odds are teams like NYR and LA could offer better packages for him. With that being said though, I highly doubt either Lafreniere or Byfield would be included in a deal. Jumping back to the Wild, I feel like Rossi would be available in a trade. Rossi is a top prospect in the eyes of lots of people connected to the NHL, but he dealt with COVID this year which could potentially deter BUF from him being a centerpiece for Eichel. On top of that, the Sabres passed on Rossi in the draft in favour of Jack Quinn, so I dont know how much they like Rossi. Rossi isnt the only value in this trade though, as BUF would be getting 2 26 y/o D in Dumba and Soucy. Dumba is a bonafide T4 D, who can contribute on offense while still being a solid defender. Soucy led the Wild in +/- this season, and has the potential to be a good defenceman in the NHL. Also, Hunter Jones is a G with good potential. The 2 1sts BUF would get should fall in the 20s, but they still have great value regardless.

Well that’s definitely a healthy return for Eichel.

The Eichel trade is close and I think both the wild and the red wings probably have a high potential to get Jack, unless the kings really want to pony up some assets. I don't think Jack ends up on the rangers.

Going to have to either deal Dumba to a 3rd team or replace his value.

The whole point of that "4 1sts" idea, is for Buffalo to basically take back no salary.

I just don’t think it’s a good idea to have two defenseman in the trade. They need forwards more.

Value is right on to maybe a bit heavy. Tough offer to beat without Byfield or Kakko or LAF.

Wild aren't going to trade two top 4 dman in a trade. Defense is a part of who wild are, & will always be

Soucy is a top 6 dman, he plays 3rd pair with Cole. Addison should play in the NHL this year, so Dumba easily becomes expendable and I’m really high on Brennan Mennell who was great in the AHL, and went to the KHL this season and was great there as well. I agree though, I don’t know how likely it is that they trade 33% of their d core, but they can replace the guys that they traded with solid players they have in their system.

You really can’t overpay when acquiring a young 1C under control long term, so I don’t really see this as an overpay honestly

Yeah, forwards are somewhat of a bigger need for BUF, but they also need any form of talent they can get to be honest

They are getting more than 4 1sts of value here, and it’s going to be next to impossible to trade someone making 10m and not getting some salary back

Yeah, I highly doubt he becomes a Ranger. Same division, so it would probably take a good deal for both teams to justify making this big of a trade with someone you will play multiple times a year. Wings could get him too, but I don’t think that’s as likely considering they don’t have a true contending roster right now

Fair but pay only what the market dictates. Just saying I think their first offer should be a bit less as that is likely a more than competitive offer. Might be able to get away with less.

Are you concerned Eichel's injury at all? This looks like full trade value without consideration of his injury.
