It's fair on paper but not even sure the Hawks consider that given the cap hit coming over of $5M+ more while losing 3 players, one of which is a A prospect (Dach) and one of which is a A- goal scorer (Kubalik). Hawks probably end of up with the #11 pick in the draft. If it's protected if they win the 1st or 2nd in the lottery, then much more likely but if they get the 1st or 2nd pick then no way.

Buffalo would definitely not want Nylander back. Perhaps the only smart trade Botteril made was getting rid of him.

Why pay someone to take Skinner? People seem to think he’s the worst person in the world all of a sudden. I maintain that if he gets top six minutes and power-play opportunities he’s going to score goals again. Look at what happened for Bobby Ryan. He may never be worth $9 million a season, but he’s worth more than paying someone to get rid of him, especially when the cost is too high.

I think Skinner getting 9mil just throws the salary structure out of whack anyone playing better than Skinner can complain I'm better than Skinner he's getting 9mil I should at least get _________ I think an old vet getting more than he produces is tolerated but I think a young guy like Skinner might cause bad mojo.

Well the team can say when you score 40 goals in a season then you can ask for $9 million. Skinner is not a 25 year old player making $9 million a year, he’s basically 30 now. Not to mention contracts like his and Okposo now became a cautionary tale. Hopefully we see fewer teams giving out these contracts to 27 year old players, at least not with that much term. Players hit a wall much earlier than they used to, so short term free agent contracts are probably much safer than long-term ones.

No thanks from wild. As today's game proved, greenway on the line with Foligno, & Joel Eriksson Ek is big time important

Greenway using his body to keep the puck in Minnesota wild zone, & get the puck to foligno, then foligno presence being enough for Vegas to lay back gave Joel Eriksson Ek all the space needed to win the game in overtime

So no because wild already know whar an asset like greenway does, & what he brings

Easy no from Caps. They aren't in a position to take on cap dumps. And two firsts (+ two cap dumps) isn't near the fair return for Kuznetsov, Samsonov and Wilson.

Yep. Take out Wilson and Okposo and and WSH doesn't hang up. Then, since Buffalo doesn't have the 13th overall, the question is whether 1st overall and 33rd overall are enough for Kuznetsov plus Samsonov plus dumping a 2.2M 5C for a year. I think it might be sort of close, especially because it clears two expansion protection slots for the Caps, but it could use a prospect or two. Not great ones, but an RHD and a forward who might play. Because the Caps' prospect system is consistently rated as among the thinnest in the league, and all they really have depth at is LHD, and half the 1st overall prospects are LHD. Heck. WSH throws in Bobby Nardella on this one.

Then, once Buffalo has two #1Cs and two #1Gs, Eichel and Reinhart see the team can win, and they stop worrying about whether it's going to rebuild. You don't have to trade them anymore. Is what's left of Kuznetsov's and Samsonov's careers better than the whole career of a Power or whoever? Maybe. But when you add in what's left of Eichel and Reinhart, then the return looks pretty decent. Of course, Buffalo would have to meet with their problem children before signing the deal, and figure out whether that's the type of big move that would keep them around and keep them happy to play in Buffalo. If they just want out, then rebuild and don't trade the top pick.

None of these trades are fair value. Buffalo wins every deal here by a significant amount.
