Bruins need to add their best player in Sean Kurlay to interest the Sabres.

Well, he'll have to go somewhere else to get it. I think he takes a slight pay cut to stay in Boston tho. It's the perfect combination- the team doesn't have to rely on him for all their scoring, and he gets to work with Krejci and Smith, who he did really well with. Also, 6 Mil is no small number.

Agreed, for a chance at winning I expect Hall to resign for below market value. He'll probably want term though as he's about to hit 30 so he might push for more than 4 years.

Eichel trade above is a bad joke. You get hung up on. They'd be better off benching Eichel for 5 years.

$6M is well on it's way to becoming average amount. 121 of 932 standard are $6M+ so about 13%.

What makes you think that? I think between 6-7 is realistic.

Didn’t he drop in an interview that he was going to sign long term with Boston like unprompted?

Vaakainainen is exactly what Sabres need. Vaak + Risto could build a new dream D-pairing. Think Sabres should go for this decent bid.

I mean, maybe they backload his contract so they pay him 6 M for the 1st few years, 7 M for the next and 8-9 M for the last few years

Yeah but I don't Boston keeping him around he is playing very well right now which is exactly what Boston wanted but after a great season in NJ he hasn't played very well in the regular season he was injured in his 3 season in NJ. But the year after he had 52 points and this season he was on pace for 48 if this season had 82 games. With a flat cap you are right $6M is a lot and his regular season play isn't worth that if he decided to take less money because there is always a team willing to over pay a UFA. Looking at the decisions like this Boston maybe be on the conservative side but they also don't make a lot of bad choices and that why they always seem to be in the hunt. Now once the cap gets back to normal where is can raise more than $1M in an offseason the average player salary could shoot up $6M.
