KHL signings hate me

Created by: CannaHawk
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 18, 2021
Published: May 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Shalunov signs if Damir Zhafyarov signs. Scoring RW and a Center. Dach works on his Hossa game. Shalunov is big, decent face offs, and can shoot hard so hopefully he fits. StromeCat run the third line like bosses. I still don’t know where this team is going defensively.

We have too many forwards as it is. I'm not so sure signing Maxim and Damir is the answer unless we're trading away Kubalik and Suter. Also, where is Borgstrom, Nylander, Kampf, Carpenter?

*** IF *** getting Damir meant you need to sign Shalunov... Would you trade for Shalunov's rights? I'm not suggesting rumors are true at all. Just hearing that they'd like to play together more.

Nylander: Do you really need an explanation for this kid?
Borgstrom: Oof honest mistake he might fit 3C 4C
Kampf: Fits 4C if we’re gonna be cup champs
Carpenter: Basically another Tommy Wingels aka we’re not gonna miss if he’s gone.

So yeah yeah we have a lot of forwards. But this means we have forwards and depth. Which almost every single cup winner ever has needed. All that the price of signing two Russians. Also who’s this doesn’t mean they’re locked into the lineup the whole season in those exact spots.

The guy wins over half his faceoffs, has a hard shot, and has thrown the body around. And defensively sound in the Gagarin cup run he did. So tell me who you’d rather have in his place please. I mean this is a a great year to take a gamble on some possible lucky Russian players and you wanna trade that away? Idk man I’m probably too hopeful and optimistic at this point.

I’m just saying that’s four line banging for now while we let the dmen mature and grow. This gets the young kids into the playoffs which they desperately need

I hear ya on Carpenter and agree he's just a solid depth piece that we'd keep in just about any situation. He's a vet and if nothing else, he'll be a healthy scratch/taxi squad guy. As for Nylander. IDK. He'll get extended on a 2-way contract or he can go to Europe. He'll be given every opportunity to get NHL ice time as everyone else. So, he'll play his way onto the team or off of the team. This goes for Borgstrom too. I like Kampf as a 4th line center. He's an RFA, good at the dot, plays the PK, doesn't mind 67% Dzone starts. He's the new Kruger. We need a guy like him.

I would just caution how good we expect Maxim/Damir to be. I like what I hear form you about Maxim...I'm just not as convinced as you sound like you are that he'll be an NHLer. Mikko Lehtonen was the leading point getting Dman in the KHL and then came over and was a regular healthy scratch in the NHL.

He'll be 29 when the season starts. I want to keep developing Dach at center because he's much more important to the future of this team than a 29 year old Russian is. This team isn't a contender with the russian signings so whats the point? Keep developing Dach who looks like our future 1C. Play Borgstrom in Shuluanov's spot. He's 6 years younger and has all the talent to be a good middle 6 center in this league with upside higher than that. Toews, Dach, Borgstrom is what I would want up the middle

Okay you guys the point is these Russian guys are low risk high reward for us. Yeah let’s let Nylander and Borg develop. Even dominate as a Rockford line. Hawks always won because they had that surplus talent waiting. And yeah I see developing Dach, but I can’t make a call too much on this as Toews situation is the big question for the team. If the Russians are not NHL’ers then hey forget about we got plenty of youth who should be eager for ice time.

I see the idea behind the thread and it would be interesting to see but it is a huge risk/reward play. Gutsy move if Stan decides this is the next direction a year after announcing a rebuild.

On this experiment I would prefer a more conservative start to lines such as*

Kubs Toews Hagel
Cat Dach Kane
Damir Maxim Strome
Kurashev Suter/Kampf Hartmann

Btw I personally wouldn't do the experiment.

Hey man as long as it got ya thinking that’s all I care. Just would be nice to see Toews return so the direction of the rebuild is more clear.

I hope he makes a return, I don't think we will see the same Toews but having his presence is huge and if he can't win Faceoffs and be a leader to the prospects coming through, its a step in the right direction. I don't see us making playoffs until 2023 at the very best unless theres some blockbuster trades or FA signings coming in.
