Also an outsider. Gotta think overpay for Reinhart, underpay for Eichel, and meh on Risto.

Fair points.

The premium for Reinhart trade is due to the Karlsson contract.

Eichel's value decreased by the uncertainty around his injury.

CBJ says no. Trade away multiple pieces for a organizationally and physically damaged forward. Oilers struggled for years to get pieces around mcdavid. CBJ wont do the same. Korpi or elvis, both late 1s, tex, voronkov, Jenner is the best you will get

Don't think that gets you close. Not sure if Laine is a long term solution there. Definite need for no. 1 center. Organization needs to retain Jones. Eichel on the other hand is under contract for a long time which would be important for Columbus

Karlsson is still producing at a pretty good level (generally good for 20+ goals), hasn't shown any indication of declining, and is on a very similar contract to Reinhart before the extension. It's actually cost stability going Buffalo's way for similar production. Especially since you're sending out an increased cost Reinhart, 10mil in Eichel, and 4mil ish in Risto. I don't think there needs to be any premium for trading his contract, personally.

How do you convince Karlsson to waive his no trade clause?

I use to think WPG fans wanted Risto because I saw a bunch of WPG trades that involved him - but now I see WPG fans saying we don't want Risto no Risto to WPG trades.

I'm not sure how Reinhart is getting more in return than Eichel. Domi is horrid. Laine is a one trick pony that cost a lot of money. That would be a scary bad move by the sabres

I agree Laine isn’t the long term solution. If I placed bets on it, I think he’s traded within the next year. Jarmo was forced into a less-than-ideal trade as a result of Dubois’ public and on-ice hissy-fitting.

But on this trade, I wouldn’t want it. I’ve said it before - the trade to get Eichel will give up enough assets as to leave CBJ with Eichel exactly where they are at without him - not very good. This is better for CBJ than most of the other Eichel trades I’ve seen, but I’m still not for him going to CBJ.

Don't want two bums and a 1st for Eichel.
